Introduction: Diagnostic performance of optical coherence tomography (OCT) to detect Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) remains limited. We aimed to develop a deep-learning algorithm using OCT to detect AD and MCI.

Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study involving 228 Asian participants (173 cases/55 controls) for model development and testing on 68 Asian (52 cases/16 controls) and 85 White (39 cases/46 controls) participants.

The study proposes a dynamic spatio-temporal profile of the distribution of tuberculosis incidence and air pollution in Romania, where this infectious disease induces more than 8,000 new cases annually. The descriptive analysis for the years 2012-2021 assumes an identification of the structuring patterns of mycobacterium tuberculosis risk in the Romanian population, according to gender and age, exploiting spatial modeling techniques of time series data. Through spatial autocorrelation, the degree of similarity between the analyzed territorial systems was highlighted and the relationships that are built between the analysis units in spatial proximity were investigated.

Experimental study on dimensional variations of 3D printed dental models based on printing orientation.

This research investigates the trueness and precision of 3D printing technology in dental applications, specifically focusing on dimensional variations observed in models printed at different angles. An extremely rare case of feeding jejunostomy proceeding to intussusception.

Eosinophilic, polymorphic, and pruritic eruption associated with radiation therapy in two patients diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Key Clinical Message: We report 2 cases of EPPER diagnosed in patients who received radiation therapy and hormonal therapy for locally advanced prostate cancer. Both our patients developed this rare late toxicity, but early diagnosis and treatment of this adverse event offers a good prognosis, with no unnecessary interruptions of oncological treatment required.

Good outcome of tracheostomy in a COVID-19 child with Joubert syndrome-Case report.

Pediatric tracheostomy in COVID-19 patients is a rarity. Joubert syndrome is a rare genetic disease, involving a lack of muscle control. We report the case of a child with Joubert syndrome and a severe form of COVID-19 infection, in whom we performed tracheostomy in order to replace prolonged intubation and mechanical ventilation; successful decannulation was performed after 12 months.

Moebius syndrome-Case report.

Moebius Syndrome is a rare multifactorial condition defined by congenital complete or partial VII and VIth cranial nerves palsy and other physical abnormalities. We present the case of a 3 months old infant with Moebius sequence and breathing and eating difficulties, managed by tracheostomy and laryngoplasty.

Pathophysiology of sepsis-induced cholestasis: A review.

Sepsis is a critical condition resulting from the excessive activation of the inflammatory/immune system in response to an infection, with high mortality if treatment is not administered promptly. One of the many possible complications of sepsis is liver dysfunction with consequent cholestasis. The aim of this paper is to review the main mechanisms involved in the development of cholestasis in sepsis.

Background: Hypersensitivity reactions induced by chemotherapeutic drugs may influence the course of the oncologic disease by preventing doctors from prescribing first-line therapy. In order to prevent another hypersensitivity reaction to the culprit chemotherapeutic agent, the physician can decide between two possibilities: premedication or desensitisation protocols. Rapid drug desensitisation showed successful results for most patients, but some of them may develop symptoms.

Radiation response of soft-tissue extramedullary plasmacytoma in multiple myeloma-A case report.

We report the case of a 79-year-old female patient previously treated for multiple myeloma that was referred to our hospital due to a growing painless right arm tumor. Imaging and pathology results confirmed the diagnosis of extramedullary plasmacytoma. The patient underwent external beam radiotherapy with complete clinical response at follow-up.

We used digital holographic microscopy to compare the refractive index and dry mass density of two B16 murine melanoma sublines of different metastatic potential. Using statistical methods, the distribution of phase shifts within the reconstructed quantitative phase images was analyzed by the method of bimodality coefficients.
