Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates whether combining intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) with endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is more effective and safe for patients with mild acute ischemic stroke and large vessel occlusion compared to IVT alone.
  • A total of 1,037 patients were analyzed, with 312 undergoing matched comparisons. The results showed that IVT plus EVT was linked to worse functional outcomes despite no significant safety advantage when compared to IVT alone.
  • Patients receiving the combination treatment experienced higher rates of certain hemorrhagic events, indicating the need for careful evaluation when considering treatment methods for mild strokes.

Pathogenic variants in genes are involved in histone acetylation and deacetylation resulting in congenital anomalies, with most patients displaying a neurodevelopmental disorder and dysmorphism. Arboleda-Tham syndrome caused by pathogenic variants in KAT6A (Lysine Acetyltransferase 6A; OMIM 601408) has been recently described as a new neurodevelopmental disorder. Herein, we describe a patient characterized by complex phenotype subsequently diagnosed using the clinical exome sequencing (CES) with Arboleda-Tham syndrome (ARTHS; OMIM 616268).

Background/aim: Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant neoplastic diseases and by far the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Recently, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have received increasing attention for playing a crucial role in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Biomarkers, such as programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and tumor mutational burden (TMB), seemed to be helpful in selecting patients who are more likely to benefit from ICI treatment: however, their role has not yet been fully clarified.

Introduction: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was accompanied by an overabundance of fake news increasing the risk of developing false memories (FMs). Previous studies have shown that the relationship between fake news and FMs could be mediated by some individual variables, including attitudinal biases. We explored the role of these variables in true memories (TMs) and FMs formation, with special emphasis on vaccine- and Green Pass (GP)-related topics.
