Isatuximab, a novel anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody, is approved in combination with carfilzomib and dexamethasone (Isa-Kd) in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) patients. Because of its recent introduction, real-world efficacy and safety are poorly reported. In this Italian multicenter real-life observational retrospective study, efficacy and safety of the Isa-Kd regimen were evaluated in a cohort of 103 RRMM patients.

Photon counting computed tomography (PCCT) represents a paradigm shift from conventional CT imaging, propelled by a new generation of X-ray detectors capable of counting individual photons and measuring their energy. The first part of this narrative review is focused on the technical aspects of PCCT and describes its key advancements and benefits compared to conventional CT but also its limitations. By synthesizing the existing literature, the second part of the review seeks to elucidate the potential of PCCT as a valuable tool for assessing carotid artery disease.

A multispecialty trauma team must provide care for pelvic gunshot wounds (PGW) due to the high risk of associated morbidity and mortality, the high density of organs that might be wounded within the pelvis, and the potential consequences of these complicated injuries. We present a case of a 59-year-old woman hemodynamically stable with firearm injury to the left buttock. CT examination showed free air in the peritoneal cavity and in the retroperitoneum and a focal contrast extravasation within the uterine fundus.

The aim of these evidence-based guidelines is to present a consensus position from members of the Italian Unitary Society of Colon-Proctology (Società Italiana Unitaria di Colon-Proctologia, SIUCP) on the diagnosis and management of hemorrhoidal disease, with the goal of guiding physicians in the choice of the best treatment option. A panel of experts was charged by the Board of the SIUCP to develop key questions on the main topics related to the management of hemorrhoidal disease and to perform an accurate and comprehensive literature search on each topic, in order to provide evidence-based answers to the questions and to summarize them in statements. All the clinical questions were discussed by the expert panel in multiple rounds through the Delphi approach and, for each statement, a consensus among the experts was reached.

Introduction: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common disease, and several scores aim to assess its prognosis. Our study aims to automatically recognize mild AP from computed tomography (CT) images in patients with acute abdominal pain but uncertain diagnosis from clinical and serological data through Radiomic model based on formal methods (FMs).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the CT scans acquired with Dual Source 256-slice CT scanner (Somatom Definition Flash; Siemens Healthineers, Erlangen, Germany) of 80 patients admitted to the radiology unit of Antonio Cardarelli hospital (Naples) with acute abdominal pain.

Background: E-cigarettes (ECIG) are proposed as an alternative for regular tobacco users with less dangerous effects for health. Several studies demonstrated that ECIG exert deleterious cardiovascular effects and promote platelet dependent thrombosis. However, ECIG role on Tissue Factor-dependent thrombosis is still unknown.

The introduction of pediatric-inspired regimens in adult Philadelphia-negative acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph- ALL) has significantly improved patients' prognosis. Within the Campus ALL network, we analyzed the outcome of adult Ph- ALL patients treated according to the GIMEMA LAL1913 protocol outside the clinical trial to compare the real-life data with the study results. We included 421 consecutive patients; median age 42 years.

Real-world data on treatment patterns and outcomes of patients with acute myeloid leukemia unfit for intensive chemotherapy are lacking before the advent of precision medicine in this setting. Herein, we present the Italian sub-analysis of the CURRENT study in AML patients unfit for first line intensive chemotherapy, evaluating patients' outcomes between 2015 and 2018. Among 74 evaluable patients, 62 received systemic treatments (most used therapy was hypomethylating agents), while 12 best supportive care.

The shift to a genotype-first approach in genetic diagnostics has revolutionized our understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders, expanding both their molecular and phenotypic spectra. Kleefstra syndrome (KLEFS1) is caused by EHMT1 haploinsufficiency and exhibits broad clinical manifestations. EHMT1 encodes euchromatic histone methyltransferase-1-a pivotal component of the epigenetic machinery.
