Onychotillomania, or nail-picking disorder, is an uncommon and misdiagnosed behavioral pattern focused on the nail apparatus. It is demarcated by the compulsive or irresistible urge in patients to constantly injure their own nails, with the fingers or tools, inflicting noticeable or even irreversible self-destruction of the nail unit. Despite its rarity, this self-injurious coercion often poses a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.

Nail involvement in psoriasis is common, and the severity of it does not always parallel the intensity of cutaneous disease. We created a consensus group, of which the aim was to provide practical recommendations for the treatment of nail psoriasis in patients without skin psoriasis or with mild skin lesions with no indication for a systemic treatment. This collaborative process was conducted by an international panel of dermatologists with special expertise in nail disorders, using formal consensus methods.

We present three girls with the eating disorder anorexia nervosa (AN) presenting with erythema ab igne (EAI), a benign, reticular, erythematous dermatosis caused by repeated prolonged skin exposure to mild heat. AN has been associated with abnormal peripheral vascular response to cold, vasoconstriction of the limbs, low hand blood flow, exaggerated response to cold stimuli, subnormal core temperature, and a general feeling of cold that may encourage prolonged heat exposure and induce EAI.
