First-line immune-based combinations or sunitinib in favorable-risk metastatic renal cell carcinoma: a real-world retrospective comparison from the ARON-1 study.

Introduction: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is one of the most common types of urogenital cancer. The introduction of immune-based combinations, including dual immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) or ICI plus tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), has radically changed the treatment landscape for metastatic RCC, showing varying efficacy across different prognostic groups based on the International Metastatic RCC Database Consortium (IMDC) criteria.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective multicenter study, part of the ARON-1 project, aimed to evaluate the outcomes of favorable-risk metastatic RCC patients treated with immune-based combinations or sunitinib.

Clinical Manifestations.

Background: Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) is a neurodegenerative disorder primarily affecting language abilities, with clinical variants (nonfluent/agrammatic variant [nfvPPA], semantic variant [svPPA], logopenic variant [lvPPA], and mixed-PPA [mPPA]) categorized based on linguistic features. This study aims to compare PPA cohorts of native speakers of two different languages: English (an analytic language with deep orthography) and Italian (a synthetic language with shallow orthography).

Methods: We considered 166 English participants (70 nfvPPA, 45 svPPA, 42 lvPPA, 9 mPPA) and 106 Italian participants (14 nfvPPA, 20 svPPA, 42 lvPPA, 31 mPPA).

Background: The health of the marginalized populations is crucial for public health and inequalities. The World Health Organization (WHO) Global Hepatitis Report 2024 stated that over 304 million people were living with Hepatitis B Virus (HBV)/Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection in 2022. We performed HBV/HCV screenings among marginalized communities to reveal hidden infections and link-to-care positive participants.

Pili trianguli et canaliculi syndrome is a rare hair shaft disorder characterized by frizzy hair that cannot be smoothed flat. Affected hair shafts are triangular or kidney-shaped with longitudinal grooving. Diagnosis typically requires electron microscopy, which may be cost-prohibitive, or alternatively, the distinctive features of hair shafts can be identified through histological examination of cross sections, that is time-consuming.

Psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents with temporal lobe epilepsy: A narrative review.

People with epilepsy (PWE) are at higher risk of psychiatric disorders (PD), disability, and reduced quality of life than the general population, especially in childhood and adolescence and when seizures originate from the temporal lobe. Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) is the most common type of focal epilepsy and can be due to structural abnormalities, or non-lesional causes, such as genetic variants. The prevalence of PD is approximately 20%-30% in people with epilepsy in general, and from 40% up to 80% in people with TLE.

Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior on Well-Being and Self-Rated Health of Italian Public Health Medical Residents During the COVID-19 Pandemic: The PHRASI Study.

Using data from the Public Health Residents' Anonymous Survey in Italy (PHRASI), this research assessed the associations between physical activity levels and sedentary behavior, well-being, and self-rated health among Italian public health residents (PHRs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Employing a cross-sectional design, this study utilized the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, the WHO-5 Well-being Index, and the single-item self-rated health to measure physical activity, sedentary behavior, self-rated health, and well-being among PHRs.
