The aim of this study was to create rapid and sustainable instrumental methods for screening virgin olive oils (VOOs) to support the Panel test. The Panel test is the official sensory method used in EU regulations to determine the commercial category of VOOs. The Panel test is based on a time-consuming and expensive approach, so reducing the number of samples to be analysed is crucial.

Perovskites exhibit outstanding performance in applications such as photocatalysis, electrochemistry, or photovoltaics, yet their practical use is hindered by the instability of these materials under operating conditions, specifically caused by the segregation of alkali cations toward the surface. The problem arises from the bulk strain related to different cation sizes, as well as the inherent electrostatic instability of perovskite surfaces. Here, we focus on atomistic details of the surface-driven process of interlayer switching of alkali atoms at the inorganic perovskite surface.

Introduction: Modern anti-myeloma therapies have broken new ground in the treatment of the disease, and the incorporation of ide-cel in the treatment landscape represents one of the major scientific and clinical advances.
Areas Covered: Ide-cel was the first cell-based gene therapy approved for the treatment of triple-class exposed relapsed/refractory myeloma patients, showing impressive results, and demonstrating superiority over standard regimens in terms of efficacy, potential treatment-free intervals, and improved quality of life in heavily pretreated patients and in high-risk disease. This review summarizes the state-of-the-art of the most recent updates deriving from the use of ide-cel within ongoing, or upcoming, clinical trials, and from real-life experiences.

Bees are crucial for food security and biodiversity. However, managed bees are increasingly considered drivers of wild bee declines, leading to stakeholder conflicts and restrictive policies. We propose avenues to reconcile wild and managed bee proponents and point out knowledge gaps that hinder the development of evidence-based policies.

The visual system compensates for differences between peripheral and foveal vision using different mechanisms. Although peripheral vision is characterized by higher spatial uncertainty and lower resolution than foveal vision, observers reported objects to be less distorted and less blurry in the periphery than the fovea in a visual matching task during fixation (Valsecchi et al., 2018).

A significant unmet need remains for patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) who fail to respond to first-line treatment or experience an early relapse. Tinostamustine, a novel alkylating deacetylase inhibitor, inhibits tumor cell growth and slows disease progression in models of hematological malignancies and solid tumors. This was a Phase I, multicenter, open-label, two-stage trial investigating the safety and efficacy of tinostamustine in patients ≥ 18 years with relapsed/refractory (R/R) hematological malignancies, including HL.

Motor unit number estimation (MUNE) methods are crucial for estimating lower motor neuron loss in motor neuron diseases. The MScanFit MUNE (MScanFit) is a novel method that estimates MUNE values from compound motor action potential (CMAP) scans, demonstrating high sensitivity and reproducibility in detecting motor unit loss in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). In this study, we aimed to characterize the pattern of motor unit loss in the hand intrinsic muscles of SMA patients compared to ALS patients and healthy controls (HC) using MScanFit MUNE.

Microchannels are widely used across various industries, including pharmaceuticals and biochemistry, automotive and aerospace, energy production, and many others, although they were originally developed for the computing and electronics sectors. The performance of microchannels is strongly affected by factors such as rarefaction and viscous dissipation. In the present paper, a numerical analysis of the performance of microchannels featuring rectangular, trapezoidal and double-trapezoidal cross-sections in the slip flow regime is presented.

Herein we describe the synthesis and rearrangement of 1,3-diamino-2,7-naphthyridines and 1-amino-3-oxo-2,7-naphthyridines. In the case of 1,3-diamino-2,7-naphthyridines, it was found that the rearrangement reaction was influenced by both the substituent at the 7th position of the 2,7-naphthyridine ring and by the nature of the cyclic amine at the 1st position. The influence was mainly steric.

Background: Restrictive repetitive behaviors (RRBs) and sensory processing disorders are core symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Their relationship is reported, but existing data are conflicting as to whether they are related but distinct, or different aspects of the same phenomenon.
Aims: This study investigates this relationship using artificial neural networks (ANN) analysis and an innovative data mining analysis known as Auto Contractive Map (Auto-CM), which allows to discover hidden trends and associations among complex networks of variables (e.
The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Probabilistic tsunami hazard analysis (PTHA) introduces potential biases in tsunami risk assessment if it assumes static coastlines. Global warming, in addition to geological and local factors, may affect sea-level rise in the next few decades. Here, we provide a method that integrates the expected sea-level rise into existing PTHA, updating regional models without further tsunami simulations.
