Purpose: To evaluate the association between the HER2 score as provided by the Oncotype DX Recurrence Score (RS) assay, tumor characteristics, and outcomes in early-stage, ER + HER2-negative breast cancer (BC).
Methods: All women insured by the Clalit Health Services, with early-stage, ER + HER2-negative BC who underwent RS testing between 2008 and 2011 were included. Patient/tumor characteristics and Kaplan-Meier estimates for distant recurrence-free survival (DRFS) and overall survival (OS) were compared by HER2 category, based on the HER2 score provided by the RS assay: lower HER2 score group representing the lower third of the HER2 score range (≤ 8.

Bariatric surgery introduces significant changes in the gastrointestinal tract, which may affect oral drug absorption/bioavailability. Here we investigate the phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor (PDE5i) tadalafil for potentially impaired post-bariatric solubility/dissolution and absorption. Solubility was studied in vitro in different pHs, and ex vivo in gastric content aspirated from patients pre/post-surgery.

Ketogenic diet (KD) is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate (CHO) diet, designed to induce a metabolic state of ketosis in which the body metabolizes primarily lipids for energy production. Various forms of KD are being promoted as promising treatments for numerous health conditions from chronic headaches to weight-loss and even different forms of cancer and are becoming increasingly more popular. KD appears to be an efficacious approach for weight-loss, and maintenance, improved glycemia, cognitive function and cancer prognosis.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most prevalent form of human cancer, is traditionally treated by surgical and alternative destructive or topical chemical means, each with its advantages, challenges, and drawbacks. We describe our experience treating BCCs with a topical concentrate of proteolytic enzymes enriched in bromelain (CPEEB) sourced from pineapple stems. CPEEB has strong proteolytic, antitumor-proapoptotic, and inflammation modulation activities, and is approved for debridement of deep burns and starting phase 3 trials for chronic wounds.

As one of the most efficacious glaucoma surgical techniques, trabeculectomy is considered by many surgeons to be the "gold standard" intra-ocular pressure (IOP)-reducing intervention. The purpose of this study is to present our intra-operative flow-adjusted surgical method, which aims to provide safety and efficacy more simply than previous methods. Retrospectively, we evaluated outcomes for trabeculectomy or phacotrabeculectomy in surgery-naïve eyes over three years for patients with glaucoma not associated with other ocular co-morbidities.

Background: Considering the global shortage of nurses, leaders in the field must understand the strengths and weaknesses of various nursing specialties in order to retain professionals within the field. Occupational prestige reflects the perceived contribution of an occupation 'to society', and measures its desirability, benefit and values. Understanding how experienced nurses view the prestige of nursing specialties may help to explain why some specialties are more desirable than others.

The human body has the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and mobilizes various biological systems in order to do so. When exposed to stressful conditions, the endocrine, nervous, and immune systems come together to aid in maintaining homeostasis; however, during periods of chronic stress, these systems can become maladaptive and lead to long-term detrimental health outcomes. Amongst the lingering effects associated with chronic stress exposure, increasingly, studies are identifying a link to adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes.

Community-based medical rehabilitation encompasses diverse programs that cater to patients outside of inpatient settings, such as home rehabilitation, day rehabilitation centers, and ambulatory clinics. While inpatient rehabilitation principles are widely standardized, outpatient programs display significant variability influenced by healthcare models, local environments, economic constraints, and available resources. This narrative review aims to explore and synthesize the various models of non-inpatient rehabilitation services, evaluating their effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
