In tumor biology, hypoxia triggers signaling pathways that induce transcription of genes related to angiogenesis, metastasis, glucose metabolism and apoptosis. We investigated the expression of hypoxia related proteins, galectin-3 (Gal-3) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), in conventional (CA) and unicystic ameloblastomas (UA). We applied immunohistochemistry for Gal-3 and HIF-1α to 72 cases of ameloblastoma: 59 cases of CA and 13 cases of unicystic UA.

Clinical and preclinical research that contributes pain palliation has suggested that drugs favor the expected effects and minimize the adverse effects. Among the most widely used strategies is the combination of analgesic drugs among those in the same group, with those in another group of analgesics or with co-adjuvants (nonanalgesic drugs or elements of traditional medicine). This work aims to evaluate the interaction between eugenol (EUG) and diclofenac (DFC) on nociception in the presence of a noxious stimulus through the formalin test and isobolographic analysis.

Introduction And Objective: The epidemiology of infection with hepatitis E virus (HEV) in Tepehuanos (a Mexican ethnic group living in rural areas) is largely unknown. This study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of and risk factors associated with HEV infection in Tepehuanos in Durango, Mexico, and to compare this seroprevalence with that in non-Tepehuanos.
Materials And Methods: Through a case-control seroprevalence study, we studied 146 Tepehuanos and 146 age- and gender-matched control subjects of the general population from rural settings.

A stringent regulation of influx and efflux of magnesium by cation transporters seems to play an important role in the regulation of blood pressure (BP). With this regard, we evaluate the effect of oral magnesium supplementation on the transcription of TRPM6, TRPM7, and SLC41A1, in individuals with incident pre-hypertension (preHTN). For such purpose, we conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that compared 18 individuals who received oral magnesium lactate (360 mg elemental magnesium) versus 18 individuals who received placebo, during 4 months.
