Background: Previous literature has identified slowing of resting state electroencephalography (EEG) rhythm and abnormal cortical excitation in Alzheimer's Dementia (AD). However, the relationship between these two divergent functional abnormalities and cognitive symptoms of AD are not well understood.
Method: Resting state EEG signal was recorded in participants with AD and HCs for 5 minutes with eyes closed.

Background: An early disruption in excitation-inhibition (E-I) balance is believed to underlie abnormal local and global network dynamics in Alzheimer's disease (AD). While prior studies proposed that changes in E-I balance may underlie the established slowing of oscillatory activity and changes in functional connectivity in symptomatic AD, the specific alterations occurring in the presymptomatic stage of AD remain poorly understood. This study aims to identify local and global spectral power and functional connectivity changes in individuals with familial AD before the onset of clinical symptoms.

This paper presents a flat-type piezoelectric motor utilizing in-plane vibration modes. Two piezoelectric ceramic plates in combination with a brass metal sheet were used to construct the stator. The superposition of two second order in-plane vibration modes can generate a traveling-wave inside the stator.

It is required to have a more straightforward and easier way to check the quality of food to ensure the safety of the public heaths. The decomposition of meat protein results in ammonia and biogenic amines (BAs). Here, we have designed and synthesized three luminescent-based probe molecules, which originated from 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl) benzothiazole (HBT) derivatives and showed the excited state-induced proton transfer (ESIPT) phenomenon.
