Advances in large viewing angle and achromatic 3D holography.

Light Sci Appl

June 2024

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, 518055, China.

Optical holography is a promising technique to achieve a naked-eye 3D display. However, the narrow viewing angle and chromatic aberration are the two key issues that usually limit the holographic display performance. A recent work proposes a novel way to circumvent these constraints by introducing a color liquid crystal grating into a time-sequenced holography system.

Controlled Structuring of Hyaluronan Films by Phase Separation and Inversion.

Langmuir

September 2023

Department of Physics and Materials Engineering, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Vavrečkova 5669, Zlín 760 01, Czech Republic.

This work explores application of phase separation phenomena for structuring of films made from hyaluronan. A time-sequenced dispensing of different solution mixtures was applied under rotation of hyaluronan-covered substrates to generate surface textures. This method is applicable in direct surface modification or cover layer deposition.

This study demonstrates a hand-operated, paper-based rotational vertical-flow immunosensor (rotational VFI) platform requiring fewer pipetting steps, designed for the electrochemical detection of α-fetoprotein with multiple and time-sequenced steps. The platform allows users to perform electrochemical measurements without interference from the convective component of fluid motion, which is unfavorable in most techniques. Users can freely transfer-switch-stop fluid flows by manually rotating the paper disk, evidencing the superior flexibility of this sensor compared to other biosensors.

It is not known how biological changes in the lacrimal (LGs) and meibomian (MGs) glands contribute to dry eye disease (DED) in a time-dependent manner. In this study, we investigated time-sequenced changes in the inflammation, oxidative stress, and senescence of stem cells in both glands of an aging-related DED mouse model. Eight-week (8W)-, one-year (1Y)-, and two-year (2Y)-old C57BL/6 male mice were used.

A key challenge for realizing mobile device-based on-the-spot environmental biodetection is that a biosensor integrated with a fluid handling sensor cartridge must have acceptable accuracy comparable to that of conventional standard analytical methods. Furthermore, the user interface must be easy to operate, technologically plausible, and concise. Herein, we introduced an advanced smartphone imaging-based fluorescence microscope designed for Hg2+ monitoring by utilizing a biosensor cartridge that reduced user intervention via time-sequenced passive fluid handling.
