Downscaling of Non-Van der Waals Semimetallic WN with Resistivity Preservation.

The bulk phase of transition metal nitrides (TMNs) has long been a subject of extensive investigation due to their utility as coating materials, electrocatalysts, and diffusion barriers, attributed to their high conductivity and refractory properties. Downscaling TMNs into two-dimensional (2D) forms would provide valuable members to the existing 2D materials repertoire, with potential enhancements across various applications. Moreover, calculations have anticipated the emergence of uncommon physical phenomena in TMNs at the 2D limit.

Fluorinated graphdiyne (F-GDY) materials exhibit exceptional performance in various applications, such as luminescent devices, electron transport, and energy conversion. Although F-GDY has been successfully synthesized, there is a lack of comprehensive identification of fluorinated configurations, either by theory or experiment. In this work, we investigated seven representative F-GDY configurations with low dopant concentrations and simulated their carbon and fluorine 1s X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and carbon 1s near-edge X-ray absorption fine-structure (NEXAFS) spectra.

Atomic defects in solids offer a versatile basis to study and realize quantum phenomena and information science in various integrated systems. All-electrical pumping of single defects to create quantum light emission has been realized in several platforms including color centers in diamond and silicon carbide, which could lead to the circuit network of electrically triggered single-photon sources. However, a wide conduction channel which reduces the carrier injection per defect site has been a major obstacle.

Efficient degradation of ciprofloxacin in water using nZVI/g-CN enhanced dielectric barrier discharge plasma process.

Environ Res

January 2025

Key Laboratory of the Three Gorges Reservoir Region's Eco-Environment, Ministry of Education, Chongqing University, Chongqing, 400045, China. Electronic address:

Residual antibiotics in aquatic environments pose health and ecological risks due to their persistence and resistance to biodegradation. Thus, it is crucial to develop efficient technologies for the degradation of such antibiotics. This study presents a novel approach using a nano zero-valent iron/graphitic carbon nitride (nZVI/g-CN)-enhanced dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma process for the degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP).

Introduction: To date, no investigations have been published regarding the concentration, dose, and technique for a mucosal spray application of botulinum toxin A (BTA) to alleviate hypersecretory symptoms of rhinitis in humans. It is a promising option for reducing common symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (AR) and idiopathic non-AR. It is safer and less painful than intranasal injections, with high reported satisfaction in reducing clinical symptoms.
