Re-recognized universality of Kozai oscillation on three-body dynamics.

Proc Jpn Acad Ser B Phys Biol Sci

March 2025

National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, Mitaka, Tokyo, Japan.

In 1962, Yoshihide Kozai reported his findings on the secular dynamics of asteroids moving in orbits with high inclination and eccentricity. In contrast to the classic understanding of the stability of planetary motion in the solar system, Kozai showed that asteroids can significantly change their orbital shape over a long timescale in an oscillatory manner between nearly circular orbits and highly elliptic orbits. An anti-correlated variation between orbital inclination and eccentricity characterizes this oscillation.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Pueraria montana var. lobata (PM) has the effects of relieving muscle stiffness and fever, generating body fluids and quenching thirst, resolving rashes, raising yang and stopping diarrhea, unblocking meridians, and detoxifying alcohol. It is commonly used for the management of conditions including stiff neck and back pain, thirst, diabetes, unresolved measles, external fever with headache, dysentery, diarrhea, dizziness and headache, stroke with hemiplegia, chest and heart pain, and alcohol poisoning.

Post-lactation mass recovery and metabolic hormone dynamics in adult female Weddell seals.

Department of Biological Sciences, Texas Tech University, Box 43131, Lubbock, TX 79409, USA. Electronic address:

Weddell seal (Leptonychotes weddellii) females lose substantial body mass across an intensive, nutritionally restricted lactation period and then must rapidly recover mass during the short Antarctic summer. In this study, we examined endocrine dynamics associated with mass loss across lactation and subsequent realimentation in Weddell seals, comparing patterns between seals that recently gave birth and demographically similar non-reproductive females (skip females) in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. Postpartum seals near weaning (∼35 days postpartum, n = 64) and skip females (n = 32) were handled during early austral summer (November/December) and rehandled in late summer (January/February).

Seasonal fluctuations can influence many biotic and abiotic parameters in wetland environments. Present research on wetlands do not serve as a comprehensive model for understanding these seasonal influences, especially in Northeast India, where wetland ecosystems remain understudied. That being, our study investigated the seasonal, spatial, depth-wise variations of enzyme activity (xylanase, invertase, and cellulase), microbial community, and heavy metal concentrations [chromium (Cr), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and iron (Fe)] in the sediments of Deepor Beel.

Microplastics (MPs) are widely distributed as a global pollutant, with dynamic patterns driven by horizontal diffusion and vertical mixing in marine ecosystems across different hydrological seasons and regions. This study employed MATLAB for image processing and interactive operations to extract data from existing studies on the Chinese Marginal Seas conducted from 2016 to 2022, focusing on the distribution, sources, and transport processes of MPs. The results revealed that the Bohai Sea exhibited the highest pollution levels during both the rainy (9328.
