This Study focuses on the preparation of sustainable and efficient Chitosan catalyst for the removal of three organic pollutants, 17β-Estradiol (E2), 17α-ethynyl estradiol (EE2) and triclosan (TCS) from water. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by different techniques which confirmed the presence of the key components Chitosan, Carica Papaya seed and Kaolinite. The optical characterization proved the nanocomposite is photoactive with a band gap of 1.

The evolution of oxygenic photosynthesis during the Archean (4-2.5 Ga) required the presence of complementary reducing pathways to maintain the cellular redox balance. While the timing of the evolution of superoxide dismutases (SODs), enzymes that convert superoxide to hydrogen peroxide and O, within bacteria and archaea is not resolved, the first SODs appearing in cyanobacteria contained copper and zinc in the reaction center (CuZnSOD).

Study Question: What role do sphingolipids have in mediating human sperm capacitation?
Summary Answer: Sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) mediates the acquisition of fertilizing competency in human spermatozoa by engaging with its Gi-coupled receptor S1PR1 and promoting production of reactive oxygen species such as nitric oxide and superoxide anion.
What Is Known Already: Bioactive sphingolipids, such as S1P, are fundamental for regulating numerous physiological domains and processes, such as cell membranes and signalling, cell death and proliferation, cell migration and invasiveness, inflammation, and central nervous system development.
Study Design, Size, Duration: Semen samples were obtained from a cohort of 10 healthy non-smoking volunteers (18-30 years old) to investigate the role of S1P in sperm.

Superoxide concentration and tissue regeneration in planarians exhibit a complex non-monotonic dependence on the strength of an applied weak magnetic field. While this is difficult to understand based on classical physics, a recently proposed quantum model based on a flavin-superoxide radical pair mechanism could replicate the previously observed superoxide concentrations. However, this model also predicts increased superoxide concentrations for both lower and higher fields.
