This study explores the development of a photo-responsive bicomponent electrospun platform and its drug delivery capabilities. This platform is composed of two polymers of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) and poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV). Then, the platform is decorated with plasmonic gold nanostars (Au NSs) that are capable of on-demand drug release.

Simvastatin is a potent statin with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory characteristics, often used to treat hyperlipidemia and related cardiovascular disorders. Nonetheless, its therapeutic advantages are limited by poor water solubility and substantial degradation by CYP3A4 enzymes. This research aimed to improve simvastatin's physicochemical characteristics and therapeutic effectiveness by developing 3D-dendritic mesoporous silica nanoparticles as nanocarriers.

Treatment of precious metals in electronic waste has attracted tremendous attention and is essential for both environmental protection and resource sustainable development. In this study, a novel adsorbent for precious metal ions, VO spiny hollow nanospheres (p-VO SHN), was synthesized through a one-step hydrothermal-assisted methodology for the adsorption of Au(III), Ag(I), Pd(II), and Pt(IV) from the leaching solution of electronic waste. The results reveal that the p-VO SHN hierarchy was successfully constructed with a hollow structure and dense spiny morphology.

The decorated butadiyne-linked four porphyrin nanorings with four magnesium cations (Mg4@PNR4) represented a novel class of nanoscale molecules. This Mg4@PNR4 system could be considered as a high surface area with favorable chemical and physical properties which has inherent ability to form hydrogen and covalent bonds. The Mg4@PNR4 system could contribute to air purification and greenhouse gas decrease by efficiently capturing toxic gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

The actin cytoskeleton is central to force production in numerous cellular processes in eukaryotic cells. During clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME), a dynamic actin meshwork is required to deform the membrane against high membrane tension or turgor pressure. Previous experimental work from our lab showed that several endocytic proteins, including actin and actin-interacting proteins, turn over several times during the formation of a vesicle during CME in yeast, and their dwell time distributions were reminiscent of gamma distributions with a peak around 1 s.
