Topological Insulators (TIs) are promising platforms for Quantum Technology due to their topologically protected surface states (TSS). Plasmonic excitations in TIs are especially interesting both as a method of characterisation for TI heterostructures, and as potential routes to couple optical and spin signals in low-loss devices. Since the electrical properties of the TI surface are critical, tuning TI surfaces is a vital step in developing TI structures that can be applied in real world plasmonic devices.

Topologically associating domains (TADs) are essential components of three-dimensional (3D) genome organization and significantly influence gene transcription regulation. However, accurately identifying TADs from sparse chromatin contact maps and exploring the structural and functional elements within TADs remain challenging. To this end, we develop TADGATE, a graph attention auto-encoder that can generate imputed maps from sparse Hi-C contact maps while adaptively preserving or enhancing the underlying topological structures, thereby facilitating TAD identification.

Weyl semimetals are a novel class of topological materials with unique electronic structures and distinct properties. HfRhGe stands out as a noncentrosymmetric Weyl semimetal with unconventional superconducting characteristics. Using muon-spin rotation and relaxation (µSR) spectroscopy and thermodynamic measurements, a fully gapped superconducting state is identified in HfRhGe that breaks time-reversal symmetry at the superconducting transition.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease associated with functional and structural alterations beyond the nigrostriatal dopamine projection. However, the structural-functional (SC-FC) coupling changes in combination with subcortical regions at the network level are rarely investigated in PD.
Methods: SC-FC coupling networks were systematically constructed using the structural connectivity obtained by diffusion tensor imaging and the functional connectivity obtained by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging in 53 PD and 72 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs).

Light-matter interaction is a long-standing promising topic that can be dated back to a few centuries ago and has witnessed the long-term debate between the particle and wave nature of light. In modern condensed matter physics and materials science, light usually serves as a detection tool to effectively characterize the physical and chemical features of samples. The light modulation on intrinsic properties of materials, such as atomic geometries, electronic bands, and magnetic behaviors, is more intriguing for information control and storage.
