Applying long wavelength periodic potentials on quantum materials has recently been demonstrated to be a promising pathway for engineering novel quantum phases of matter. Here, we utilize twisted bilayer boron nitride (BN) as a moiré substrate for band structure engineering. Small-angle-twisted bilayer BN is endowed with periodically arranged up and down polar domains, which imprints a periodic electrostatic potential on a target two-dimensional (2D) material placed on top.

Objectives: To implement, examine the feasibility of, and evaluate the performance of quantitative ultrasound (QUS) with a handheld point-of-care US (POCUS) device for assessing liver fat in adults.
Materials And Methods: This prospective IRB-approved, HIPAA-compliant pilot study enrolled adults with overweight or obesity. Participants underwent chemical-shift-encoded magnetic resonance imaging to estimate proton density fat fraction (PDFF) and, within 1 mo, QUS with a POCUS device by expert sonographers and novice operators (no prior US scanning experience).

Ca ii K observations of the Sun have a great potential for probing the Sun's magnetism and activity, as well as for reconstructing solar irradiance. The Kodaikanal Solar Observatory (KoSO) in India, houses one of the most prominent Ca ii K archives, spanning from 1904 to 2007, obtained under the same experimental conditions over a century, a feat very few other sites have achieved. However, the KoSO Ca ii K archive suffers from several inconsistencies (e.

Gate voltages take full advantage of 2D systems, making it possible to explore novel states of matter by controlling their electron concentration or applying perpendicular electric fields. Here, we study the electronic properties of small-angle twisted bilayer MoS under a strong electric field. We show that transport across one of its constituent layers can be effectively regarded as a two-dimensional electron gas under a nanoscale potential.

A novel heterometallic trinuclear cluster [CuMn(cpdp)(NO)(Cl)] () has been designed and synthesized by employing a molecular library approach that uses CuCl·2HO and Mn(NO)·4HO as inorganic metal salts and Hcpdp as a multifunctional organic scaffold (Hcpdp = ,'-bis[2-carboxybenzomethyl]-,'-bis[2-pyridylmethyl]-1,3-diaminopropan-2-ol). This heterometallic cluster has emerged as an unusual ferromagnetic material and promising electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in the domain of inorganic and materials chemistry. Crystal structure analysis establishes the structural arrangement of , revealing a butterfly-like topology with an unusual seven-coordinated Mn(II) center.
