High-precision molecular manipulation techniques are used to control the distance between radical molecules on superconductors. Our results show that the molecules can host single electrons with a spin 1/2. By changing the distance between tip and sample, a quantum phase transition from the singlet to doublet ground state can be induced.

A 51-Year-Old Man With Dyspnea and a Pulmonary Nodule.

Chest

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Health and Multimorbidity, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.

A 51-year-old man presented with chest tightness, exertional dyspnea, and occasional chest pain for 2 years. The patient visited his local hospital initially, and CT scan revealed a ground glass opacity (GGO) located in the right upper lobe (Fig 1A). He was diagnosed as having pulmonary infection and treated with levofloxacin for 12 days.

In ion-pair catalysis, the last intermediate structures prior to the stereoselective transition states are of special importance for predictive models due to the high isomerization barrier between - and -substrate double bonds connecting ground and transition state energies. However, in prior experimental investigations of chiral phosphoric acids (CPA) solely the early intermediates could be investigated while the key intermediate remained elusive. In this study, the first experimental structural and conformational insights into ternary complexes with CPAs are presented using a special combination of low temperature and relaxation optimized N HSQC-NOESY NMR spectroscopy to enhance sensitivity.

[Quantitative analysis of chest CT in coronavirus infected patients and its correlation with clinical features].

Zhonghua Wei Zhong Bing Ji Jiu Yi Xue

December 2024

Department of Critical Care Medicine, Qingdao Municipal Hospital, Qingdao 266001, Shandong, China.

Objective: To explore the quantitative analysis results of different patterns of chest computed tomography (CT) in patients with coronavirus infection and its relationship with viral load and pathophysiological status.

Methods: A retrospective clinical cohort study was conducted. Patients with coronavirus infection admitted to Qingdao Municipal Hospital from June 9 to 15, 2023 (all patients underwent chest CT examination within 24 hours after diagnosis) were enrolled.

Progress in understanding the infrared spectrum of the H2O-O2 dimer.

J Chem Phys

January 2025

Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Calgary, 2500 University Drive North West, Calgary, Alberta T2N 1N4, Canada.

Spectra of the weakly bound H2O-O2 dimer are studied in the region of the H2O ν2 band using a tunable quantum cascade laser to probe a pulsed supersonic slit jet expansion. These are the first gas-phase infrared spectra of H2O-O2 and among only a few such results for O2-containing complexes. Almost 100 infrared lines are assigned based on the ground state combination differences from the microwave spectrum of H2O-O2.
