We detail here the general principle of a self-adaptive oscillator in which the intertwined operation of a 100-m-long active optical resonator and a standard semiconductor laser mutually coupled by stimulated Brillouin scattering offers an ultimate high spectral purity. Single frequency operation of this self-adaptive photonic oscillator is achieved without any servo locking or stabilization electronics. In free running operation, this principle leads to a Lorentzian linewidth of 40 mHz and a Flicker noise linewidth of 200 Hz for 0.

The emergence of spinon quasiparticles, which carry spin but lack charge, is a hallmark of collective quantum phenomena in low-dimensional quantum spin systems. While the existence of spinons has been demonstrated through scattering spectroscopy in ensemble samples, real-space imaging of these quasiparticles within individual spin chains has remained elusive. In this study, we construct individual Heisenberg antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 chains using open-shell [2]triangulene molecules as building blocks.

Antimicrobial and Antibiofilm Activities of Urinary Catheter Incorporated with ZnO-Carbon Nanotube.

ACS Appl Bio Mater

January 2025

College of Pharmacy and Inje Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Inje University, Gimhae 50832, Republic of Korea.

Urinary tract infections are among the most common nosocomial infections, with the majority being catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). This study demonstrated that an antimicrobial and antibiofilm urinary catheter containing zinc oxide-carbon nanotubes (ZnO-CNT) can inhibit CAUTIs in patients. ZnO-CNT polymers were synthesized by mixing ZnO and CNT using a high-shear mixer, and the synthesized ZnO-CNT polymers were incorporated into a silicone matrix to produce a ZnO-CNT urinary catheter.

Attosecond Rescattering of Laser-Assisted Electron-Proton Collision in Coulomb Potential.

J Phys Chem A

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, University of Malaya, 50603 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This study investigates the motion of an electron in a Coulomb potential driven by an intense linearly polarized XUV laser pulse analyzed using Gordon-Volkov wave functions. The wave function is decomposed into spherical partial waves to model the scattered electron wave packet after the recollision with a proton. This interaction triggers high harmonic generation, producing coherent X-ray pulses with frequencies that are integer multiples of the XUV field.
