Digital pathology has emerged as a revolutionary field, transforming traditional diagnostic practices by integrating advanced imaging technologies, computational tools, and artificial intelligence (AI). Adopting digital slides over conventional glass slides enables high-resolution imaging, facilitating remote consultations, second opinions, and telepathology. The digitalization of pathology laboratories enhances workflow efficiency and allows for large-scale data storage, retrieval, and analysis, paving the way for developing robust diagnostic algorithms.

Telepathology emerges as a vital tool, offering significant promise for enhancing pathology services in Africa, a region historically challenged by healthcare access and resource limitations. This review explores the development, adoption, and impacts of telepathology in Africa through a comprehensive bibliometric analysis and literature review. A methodical search in PubMed for publications up to 2024 revealed 119 pertinent studies, out of which 47 met the inclusion criteria for a focused review on telepathology's role in African healthcare settings.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated technological changes in veterinary education, particularly in clinical pathology and anatomic pathology courses transitioning from traditional methods to digital pathology (DP). This study evaluates the personal effectiveness and satisfaction, as well as the advantages and disadvantages, of DP, in particular digital cytology (DC), as a teaching method among European veterinary students, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, who attended digital pathology courses during and before the pandemic. A further aim is to discuss the differences between the two student groups.

Philippine clinical laboratory licensing requirements mandate that diagnostic microscopy for Tuberculosis (TB) sputum microscopy, urinalysis, pap smears, wet smears, an option for complete blood count, stool exams, and malaria thick and thin smears should be accessible and available in health facilities including primary care centers. However, access to these essential diagnostics is hampered by the lack of trained personnel, relatively high costs for supplies and equipment especially in rural and underserved areas. This served as motivation for our team to utilize accessible resources in the form of affordable 3D printers, available CAD software, and components to build our low-cost Openflexure microscope (OFM) prototype.

The use of digitized data in pathology research is rapidly increasing. The whole slide image (WSI) is an indispensable part of the visual examination of slides in digital pathology and artificial intelligence applications; therefore, the acquisition of WSI with the highest quality is essential. Unlike the conventional routine of pathology, the digital conversion of tissue slides and the differences in its use pose difficulties for pathologists.
