Retinal ganglion cell (RGC) protection represents an unmet need in glaucoma. This study assessed the neuroprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effect of a new nutraceutical formulation named Epicolin, based on citicoline, homotaurine, epigallocatechin-3-gallate, forskolin, and vitamins, through in vitro and in vivo studies. The neuroprotective effect of Epicolin or its single components, and Epicolin compared to an untreated control and two marketed formulations [Formulation G (FG) and N (FN)], was evaluated in neuroblastoma cells (SH-SY5Y) challenged with staurosporine.

Quinoa is recognized for its nutritional and pharmacological properties. This study aims to investigate the impact of salt stress induced by varying concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl) on the production of phenolic compounds and their biological activities in different quinoa accessions. Leaves from three quinoa accessions (Q4, Q24, and Q45) cultivated under increasing NaCl treatments were subjected to chemical analysis using ethanol and water extract.

Rose Bengal antigen and smooth lipopolysaccharide (s-LPS) were produced from a field strain of ("homologous" antigens) and from the reference strain S99 ("heterologous" antigens); they are currently used for the diagnosis of brucellosis in cattle, water buffaloes, sheep, goats, and pigs, as recommended in the Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). "Homologous" and "heterologous" antigens were used in a rapid serum agglutination test (Rose Bengal test, RBT) and a competitive ELISA assay (c-ELISA) to test a panel of sera, blood, and other body fluids (cerebrospinal fluid, pericardial fluid, tracheal fluid, and aqueous humor) collected from 71 individuals belonging to five cetacean species (; ; ; ; and ), which were found stranded on the Italian coastline. For those piezoelectric materials that operate under high-power conditions, the piezoelectric and dielectric properties obtained under small signal conditions cannot be directly applied to high-power transducers. There are three mainstream high-power characterization methods: the constant voltage method, the constant current method, and the transient method. In this study, we developed and verified a combined impedance method that integrated the advantages of the constant voltage and current methods, along with an improved transient method, for high-power testing of PZT-5H piezoelectric ceramics.
