Introduction: Heavy metal pollution threatens the biodiversity and ecological equilibrium of the Nile River. This study investigates the impact of heavy metal pollution on aquatic animals such as Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in the Damietta branch of the River Nile and El-Rayah El-Tawfeeky canal in Benha City in Egypt.

Methods: Fish and water samples were collected from the Damietta branch and El-Rayah El-Tawfeeky during the fall of 2022.

In this study, a novel acid-induced heat-set soy protein hydrolysate (SPH) gel was successfully developed. The effects of protein (7 and 8 wt%) and glucono-δ-lactone (GDL, 4, 6, 8, and 10 wt%) concentrations on its aggregation and gelation behaviors were investigated by evaluating the structural, rheological, textural, and physical properties of the SPH gel. The structural properties revealed that GDL promoted the formation of SPH aggregates and gels, primarily via disulfide bonds and hydrophobic interactions, which were closely related to the unfolding of the protein structure, exposed hydrophobic groups, decreased protein solubility, and increased particle size and turbidity during the heating process.

Humidity sensors have been widely used to monitor humidity in daily life, agriculture fields, and so on. However, conventional sensors are not suitable for wearable devices because of their large dimensions and rigid substrates. Hence, we report a fast response, highly sensitive, and fully flexible humidity sensor on a PI substrate based on the composite material of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/MoS, with a response time of 0.

Estuaries often experience multiple water quality impairments including nitrogen enrichment and elevated fecal pollution. These pollutant sources are often linked and difficult to characterize, especially in multiple use watersheds, hindering the identification of effective mitigation steps. Tillamook Bay (Oregon, USA) has a mixed-use watershed including many potential nutrient and fecal bacteria sources due to agricultural activities, human development, and local wildlife populations.
