A Cordial Introduction to Double Scaled SYK.

Rep Prog Phys

January 2025

SISSA, via Bonomea 265, 34136 Trieste, Trieste, 34136, ITALY.

We review recent progress regarding the double scaled Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev model and other p-local quantum mechanical random Hamiltonians. These models exhibit an expansion using chord diagrams, which can be solved by combinatorial methods. We describe exact results in these models, including their spectrum, correlation functions, and Lyapunov exponent.

Background/objectives: The ~1.6 kb NBPF repeat units in neuroblastoma breakpoint family (NBPF) genes are specific to humans and are associated with cognitive capacity in higher primates. While the number of NBPF monomers/Olduvai sequences in humans is approximately 2-3 times greater than in great apes, the difference in copy number values of canonical NBPF 3mer Higher-order repeats (HORs)/Olduvai triplets between humans and great apes is substantially larger.

Problem of Existence of Joint Distribution on Quantum Logic.

Entropy (Basel)

December 2024

Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Ilkovičova 3, 841 04 Bratislava, Slovakia.

This paper deals with the topics of modeling joint distributions on a generalized probability space. An algebraic structure known as quantum logic is taken as the basic model. There is a brief summary of some earlier published findings concerning a function -map, which is a mathematical tool suitable for constructing virtual joint probabilities of even non-compatible propositions.

The Two-Spin Enigma: From the Helium Atom to Quantum Ontology.

Entropy (Basel)

November 2024

EPITA Research Laboratory, 14-16 Rue Voltaire, 94270 Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, France.

The purpose of this article is to provide a novel approach and justification of the idea that classical physics and quantum physics can neither function nor even be conceived without the other-in line with ideas attributed to, e.g., Niels Bohr or Lev Landau.

Dynamical symmetries, time-dependent operators that almost commute with the Hamiltonian, extend the role of ordinary symmetries. Motivated by progress in quantum technologies, we illustrate a practical algebraic approach to computing such time-dependent operators. Explicitly we expand them as a linear combination of time-independent operators with time-dependent coefficients.
