Spectrochim Acta A Mol Biomol Spectrosc

December 2024

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Chemical Reaction Engineering, Laboratory of New Energy & New Function Materials, Yanan University, Yan'an 716000, China.

Elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray single crystal diffraction indicated that a novel metal-organic framework (Tb-MOF) designated as 0.5n[Hbpy]·[Tb(dpa)(HO)]·4nHO was synthesized successfully, (where Hdpa = 5-(3, 4-dicarboxy- phenoxy) isophenic acid, bpy = protonated 4,4'-bipyridine). Tb-MOF adopts a 3D network structure based on Tb ions and the (dpa) ligand through µ: η, η, η, η binding modes.

In the acute stage of stroke, stress hyperglycemia is common in both diabetic and nondiabetic patients. The associations between stress hyperglycemia and functional outcomes, as well as stroke recurrence were heterogeneous in previous studies. We aimed to demonstrate these associations in a general population of patients with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Background: Preliminary evaluations of 212 drinking offspring from the San Diego Prospective Study (SDPD) indicated that over 50% developed alcohol use disorder (AUD) by their mid-20s. The present analysis evaluated if those findings remained robust when the group increased to 454 individuals, a sample size that facilitated a search for potential contributors to the high AUD prevalence.

Methods: Semistructured interviews were used to evaluate lifetime AUD diagnoses in 224 daughters and 230 sons from the SDPS (N = 454) by mean age 26.

Mitochondrial endonuclease G (EndoG) contributes to chromosomal degradation when it is released from mitochondria during apoptosis. It is presumed to also have a mitochondrial function because EndoG deficiency causes mitochondrial dysfunction. However, the mechanism by which EndoG regulates mitochondrial function is not known.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

The Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, ME, USA.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD) are modulated by gene-environment (GxE) interactions across the lifespan. Variants of specific genes increase AD risk and synergize with lifetime exposure to environmental toxicants ("exposome"), including neurotoxic metals (lead, Pb; cadmium, Cd) and metalloid (As). These metal/metalloid toxicants readily enter the body (e.
