Upgrade of Weak σ-hole Bond Donors via Cr(CO)3 Complexation.

Chemistry

January 2025

Politecnico di Milano, Department of Chemistry, Materials, Chemical Engineer., via Mancinelli 7, 20131, Milan, ITALY.

Molecular recognition mediated by s-hole interactions is enhanced as the electrostatic potential at the σ-hole becomes increasingly positive. Traditional methods to strengthen σ-hole donor ability of atoms such as halogens often involve covalent modifications, such as, introducing electron-withdrawing substituents (neutral or positively charged) or electrochemical oxidation. Metal coordination, a relatively underexplored approach, offers a promising alternative.

Introduction: Strategic knowledge mobilization efforts are needed to enhance uptake and use of the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines (24HMG), which describe optimal amounts of physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep each day for overall health. The Whole Day Matters Toolkit for Primary Care is an evidence-informed resource to help primary care providers (PCPs) disseminate the 24HMGs. The purpose of this study was to describe gaining consensus on toolkit components through iterative revisions to improve its utility in preparation for the September 2022 launch, and to summarize early dissemination efforts.

Unraveling Cholesterol-Dependent Interactions of Alkylphospholipids with Supported Lipid Bilayers.

Langmuir

January 2025

School of Chemical Engineering and Translational Nanobioscience Research Center, Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon 16419, Republic of Korea.

Alkylphospholipids are single-chain lipid amphiphiles that possess clinically relevant biological activities driven by membrane-destabilizing interactions. Subtle variations in alkylphospholipid structure can lead to significant differences in their biological effects, yet corresponding membrane interactions remain underexplored. Herein, we employed the quartz crystal microbalance-dissipation (QCM-D) technique to characterize the real-time membrane interactions of three alkylphospholipids-edelfosine, miltefosine, and perifosine-on supported lipid bilayers with varying cholesterol fractions.

Prognostic Value of Frailty in Patients With Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy.

Clin Cardiol

January 2025

Unidad de Revisiones Sistemáticas y Meta-análisis (URSIGET), Vicerrectorado de Investigación, Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, Lima, Peru.

Background: There is scarce data on the prognostic value of frailty in patients with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM). This study aimed to assess the association between frailty and in-hospital outcomes in patients with TCM.

Methods: Adult admissions with TCM were included using the 2016-2019 National Inpatient Sample database.

Background: Evidence suggests a link between food allergy and poor mental health, however, this may be explained by shared genetic and environmental factors. We aimed to investigate the association between food allergy of different severity and mental health in children, and the role of familial factors.

Methods: This population-based, longitudinal cohort study is based on the Child and Adolescent Twin Study in Sweden with questionnaire data reported by parents and/or children.
