Density Classification with Non-Unitary Quantum Cellular Automata.

Entropy (Basel)

December 2024

School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney, NSW 2109, Australia.

The density classification (DC) task, a computation which maps global density information to local density, is studied using one-dimensional non-unitary quantum cellular automata (QCAs). Two approaches are considered: one that preserves the number density and one that performs majority voting. For number-preserving DC, two QCAs are introduced that reach the fixed-point solution in a time scaling quadratically with the system size.

The Hilda group is a set of asteroids whose mean motion is in a 3:2 orbital resonance with Jupiter. In this paper, we use the planar Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem (CRTBP) as a dynamical model and we show that there exists a family of stable periodic orbits that are surrounded by islands of quasi-periodic motions. We have computed the frequencies of these quasi-periodic motions and we have shown how the Hilda family fits inside these islands.

In the provision of patient-centered care, healthcare professionals face a challenging triad that is analogous to the classical "Three-Body Problem" in physics, whereby any shifts in the dynamics of medical knowledge, narrative competence and digital technologies can tip the balance of healthcare education and practice. Drugs/Medications are often caught in the dichotomy of being both "heroes" and "villains", which underscores the necessity of a balanced, informed, and empathetic approach to patient care. Drawing inspiration from the popular novel and Netflix series, the dynamic interplay between the science of medical knowledge, the art of empathy and narrative competence, and the advancement of healthcare technologies to harmonise the diverse, yet interconnected domains, of medication management, medical humanities and digital health is demonstrated - in the emerging field of Digital Health Humanities.

One-Dimensional Relativistic Self-Gravitating Systems.

Entropy (Basel)

July 2024

Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON N2L 3G1, Canada.

One of the oldest problems in physics is that of calculating the motion of particles under a specified mutual force: the -body problem. Much is known about this problem if the specified force is non-relativistic gravity, and considerable progress has been made by considering the problem in one spatial dimension. Here, I review what is known about the relativistic gravitational -body problem.

Aiming at the three-body contact problem of mechanical rough surface containing wet coal dust interface, the three-body contact model of rough surface containing wet coal dust interface is constructed by comprehensively considering the contact deformation of rough surface and contact characteristics of wet coal dust, and based on the crushing theory. By analysing the contact force, load-bearing particle size and adjacent contact angle thresholds of the wet coal dust layer, the force chain identification criterion is formulated. Finally, quantitative calculations of the force chain characteristics are performed to reveal the effect of different initial porosities on the three-body contact stiffness, which is verified experimentally.
