After an oil spill incident, the spilled oil slicks are observed to migrate to the shoreline area. Under the turbulent conditions, they break into small droplets and are suspended in the water column. The dispersed droplets are expected to interact with the suspended particles and form the oil-particle aggregates (OPAs), which significantly changes the transport of the oil.

Noninvasive ocular diagnostics demonstrate a propensity for droplet generation and present a potential pathway of distribution for pathogens such as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. High-speed images of the eye subjected to air puff tonometry (glaucoma detection) reveal three-dimensional, spatiotemporal interaction between the puff and tear film. The interaction finally leads to the rupture and breakup of the tear film culminating into sub-millimeter sized droplet projectiles traveling at speeds of 0.

Collisions between complex nuclei may give rise to their total or partial fusion. The latter case is found experimentally to gain importance when one of the colliding nuclei is weakly bound. It has been commonly assumed that the partial fusion mechanism is a two-step process, whose first step is the dissociation of the weakly bound nucleus, followed by the capture of one of the fragments.

Different from most of the previous studies using light or photons, we use highly charged ions as projectiles to activate proton migration in the smallest saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon molecules, i.e., CH and CH.

Above-barrier complete fusion involving nuclides with low binding energy is typically suppressed by 30%. The mechanism that causes this suppression, and produces the associated incomplete fusion products, is controversial. We have developed a new experimental approach to investigate the mechanisms that produce incomplete fusion products, combining singles and coincidence measurements of light fragments and heavy residues in ^{7}Li+^{209}Bi reactions.
