Background: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have shown benefits in improving cardiovascular (CV) outcomes in patients with heart failure (HF) and may mitigate symptom progression in myocardial infarction (MI). However, their effectiveness in patients with type 2 diabetes and MI undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is unclear.

Methods: To identify eligible studies, a comprehensive search of electronic databases, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus and Embase, was conducted from inception until May 2024.

Introduction: Effects of Dapagliflozin (Dapa) and Dapagliflozin-Saxagliptin combination (Combo) was examined on peripheral blood derived CD34 + Hematopoetic Stem Cells (HSCs) as a cellular CVD biomarker. Both Dapa (a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 or SGLT2, receptor inhibitor) and Saxagliptin (a Di-peptydl-peptidase-4 or DPP4 enzyme inhibitor) are commonly used type 2 diabetes mellitus or T2DM medications, however the benefit of using the combination has not been evaluated for cardio-renal risk assessment, in a real-life practice setting, compared to a placebo.

Hypothesis: We hypothesized that Dapa will improve the outcomes when compared to placebo and the Combo maybe even more beneficial.

Thoracolumbar spine muscle size and composition changes in long-duration space missions.

Life Sci Space Res (Amst)

February 2025

Department of Biomedical Engineering, Center for Injury Biomechanics, Wake Forest University School of Medicine. 575 N. Patterson Avenue, Suite 530. Winston-Salem, NC 27101, USA. Electronic address:

Muscle atrophy occurs with extended exposure to microgravity. This study quantified the overall muscle size, lean muscle area and fat infiltration changes pre- to post-flight that occur in the thoracic and lumbar spine with long-duration spaceflight. Pre- and post-flight magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans were obtained from 9 crewmembers on long-duration (≥6 months) International Space Station (ISS) missions.

Lattice coherency engineering trigger rapid charge transport at the heterointerface of Te/InO@MXene photocatalysts for boosting photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.

College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Qiqihar University, Qiqihar 161006, PR China; Heilongjiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Catalytic Synthesis for Fine Chemicals, Qiqihar University, Qiqihar 161006, PR China. Electronic address:

The establishment of heterojunctions has been demonstrated as an effective method to improve the efficiency of photocatalytic hydrogen production. Conventional heterojunctions usually have random orientation relationships, and heterointerfaces can hinder photogenerated carrier transport due to larger lattice mismatches, thus reducing the photoelectric conversion efficiency. In this study, a novel Te/InO@MXene lattice coherency heterojunction was prepared by leveraging the identical lattice spacing of InO (222) and Te (021) crystal face.

: Bempedoic acid (BA) is a novel cholesterol-lowering agent with proven positive effects on cardiovascular endpoints. Because it is an inhibitor of the hepatic transporters OATP1B1 and OATP1B3, two uptake transporters regulating the intrahepatic availability of statins, it increases the systemic exposure of co-administered statins. This interaction could raise the risk of myopathy.
