Neurofibromin (NF1), a Ras GTPase-activating protein (GAP), catalyzes Ras-mediated GTP hydrolysis and thereby negatively regulates the Ras/MAPK pathway. NF1 mutations can cause neurofibromatosis type 1 manifesting tumors, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Exactly how the missense mutations in the GAP-related domain of NF1 (NF1) allosterically impact NF1 GAP to promote these distinct pathologies is unclear.

Owing to their high light absorption coefficient, excellent electronic mobility, and enhanced excitonic effect, two-dimensional (2D) GaN materials hold great potential for applications in optoelectronic and electronic devices. As the metal-semiconductor junction (MSJ) is a fundamental component of semiconductor-based devices, identifying a suitable metal for contacting semiconductors is essential. In this work, detailed first-principles calculations were performed to investigate the contact behavior between the GaN monolayer (ML) and a series of 2D metals MX (M = Nb, Ta, V, Mo, or W; X = S or Se).

Borophene, as a new material with various configurations, has attracted significant research attention in recent years. In this study, the electronic properties of a series of χ-type borophene nanoribbons (BNRs) are investigated using a first-principles approach. The results show that the width and edge pattern of the nanoribbons can effectively tune their electronic properties.
