This case report and video demonstrate the technique of full-endoscopic J-shaped transforaminal L5 exiting nerve decompression in Bertolotti syndrome. Bertolotti syndrome, characterized by a congenital lumbosacral transitional vertebra, often results in mechanical lower back pain and nerve root compression. A 69-year-old male presented with progressive radiating pain in the right leg and tingling in the L5 dermatome.

As a transitional zone where rivers meet the sea, estuaries are influenced by river transport and ocean tides, resulting in complex variations in parameters such as organic matter content, pH, and sediment salinity. This paper primarily explores the vertical migration patterns of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) under complex conditions, focusing on the soil sediments in the Dagu River estuary area. We designed an indoor soil column leaching experiment to investigate how soil organic matter content, pH, and salinity affect the vertical migration of PCBs in soil.

The plastivore insect Tenebrio molitor demonstrates significant potential for the rapid biodegradation and bioremediation of micro(nano)plastics. However, real-time visualization of the digestive degradation and removal of microplastics (MPs) during intestinal transit, along with the associated in vivo intestinal functional responses, remains challenging. Here, we developed second near-infrared (NIR-II) window aggregated-induced emission (AIE) MPs of two sizes (29.

A neural theory of human lightness computation is described and computer-simulated. The theory proposes that lightness is derived from transient ON and OFF cell responses in the early visual pathways that have different characteristic neural gains and that are generated by fixational eye movements (FEMs) as the eyes transit luminance edges in the image. The ON and OFF responses are combined with corollary discharge signals that encode the eye movement direction to create directionally selective ON and OFF responses.
