A SU(N)_{L}×SU(N)_{R} gauge theory for a scalar multiplet Y transforming in the bifundamental representation (N,N[over ¯]) preserves, for N>4, an accidental U(1) symmetry first broken at operator dimension N. A vacuum expectation value for Y can break the symmetry to H_{s}=SU(N)_{L+R} or to H_{h}=SU(N-1)_{L}×SU(N-1)_{R}×U(1)_{L+R}. In the first case the accidental U(1) gets also broken, yielding a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson with mass suppression controlled by N.

Isotopic distributions for light particles and intermediate mass fragments have been measured for 112Sn+112Sn, 112Sn+124Sn, 124Sn+112Sn, and 124Sn+124Sn collisions at E/A = 50 MeV. Isotope, isotone, and isobar yield ratios are utilized to estimate the isotopic composition of the gas phase at freeze-out. Analyses within the equilibrium limit imply that the gas phase is enriched in neutrons relative to the liquid phase represented by bound nuclei.

Precision electroweak data are generally believed to constrain the Higgs boson mass to lie below approximately 190 GeV at 95% confidence level. The standard Higgs model is, however, trivial and can only be an effective field theory valid below some high energy scale characteristic of the underlying nontrivial physics. Corrections to the custodial isospin violating parameter T arising from interactions at this higher energy scale dramatically enlarge the allowed range of Higgs mass.
