Introduction: Exercise-based physiotherapy is an established treatment of rotator cuff injury. Objective assessment of at-home exercise is critical to understand its relationship with clinical outcomes. This study uses the Smart Physiotherapy Activity Recognition System to measure at-home physiotherapy participation in patients with rotator cuff injury based on inertial sensor data captured from smart watches.

Background: Despite advancements in surgical techniques and perioperative care, pediatric cardiac patients remain at an increased risk of adverse events. The APRICOT (2017) study aimed to establish the incidence of severe critical events in children undergoing anesthesia in Europe, while the NECTARINE (2021) study aimed to assess anesthesia practices and outcomes in neonates and infants under 60 weeks postconceptual age. Our goal was to conduct a secondary analysis of the cardiac cohorts from these two studies to determine mortality rates and other outcomes after cardiac procedures at 30 and 90 days, identify factors influencing mortality, illustrate clinical practices, and assess the methodology of the two studies.

Crystalline colloidal arrays (CCAs) composed of core-shell microspheres with thermoresponsive structural iridescence governed by Bragg's law have garnered significant attention for diverse applications. While core-shell microspheres with lower critical solution temperature (LCST) properties are extensively studied, upper critical solution temperature (UCST) counterparts remain unexplored, offering the potential to expand the application scope of thermoresponsive CCAs. In this study, poly(N-acryloyl glycinamide) (PNAGA), a UCST homopolymer, is employed for the first time to synthesize core-shell microspheres.

Releasing Forces in Adhesive Capsulitis Are Imporant Indicators of Shoulder Stiffness and Postoperative Function.

Background: Manipulation under anesthesia is a widely used treatment for frozen shoulder, but the factors that influence patient outcomes after manipulation remain unclear. The degree of shoulder stiffness, a critical feature of frozen shoulder, likely reflects the severity of the condition but currently lacks standardized, objective assessment methods.

Questions/purposes: (1) What are the releasing forces in patients with frozen shoulder, and do the forces vary across different stages of frozen shoulder? (2) Are there differences in postoperative outcomes of manipulation under anesthesia among patients with frozen shoulder at different stages of the condition? (3) Is a higher releasing force associated with poorer outcomes of manipulation, and what threshold of releasing force is optimal for better outcomes? (4) What clinical factors influence the magnitude of releasing forces?

Methods: This prospective cohort study included patients with primary unilateral frozen shoulder who underwent manipulation under anesthesia after at least 3 months of unsuccessful nonsurgical treatment, which was defined as progressive worsening ROM, failure to make progress, or residual functional impairment after 3 months of treatment.

Double-blind randomised trial of saline solution for gargling and nasal rinsing in SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Background: Previous studies have shown that hypertonic saline nasal irrigation and gargling reduced the duration of symptoms in upper respiratory infections caused by coronavirus. This study aims to investigate the effects of two saline regimens on symptoms associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2).

Methods: Between 2020 and 2022, individuals aged 18-65 years who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection via polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were randomly assigned to either low- or high-saline regimens for 14 days.
