Converting transverse photons into longitudinal two-dimensional plasmon--polaritons (2D-PP) and vice versa presents a significant challenge within the fields of photonics and plasmonics. Therefore, understanding the mechanism which increases the photon - 2D-PP conversion efficiency could significantly contribute to those efforts. In this study, we theoretically examine how efficiently incident radiation, when scattered by a silver spherical nanoparticle (Ag-NP), can be transformed into 2D-PP within van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures composed of hexagonal boron nitride and graphene (hBN/Gr composites).

Controlling and channeling light emissions from unpolarized quantum dots into specific directions with chiral polarization remains a key challenge in modern photonics. Stacked metasurface designs offer a potential compact solution for chirality and directionality engineering. However, experimental observations of directional chiral radiation from resonant metasurfaces with quantum emitters remain obscure.

RE-doped β-GaO seems attractive for future high-power LEDs operating in high irradiation environments. In this work, we pay special attention to the issue of radiation-induced defect anisotropy in β-GaO, which is crucial for device manufacturing. Using the RBS/c technique, we have carefully studied the structural changes caused by implantation and post-implantation annealing in two of the most commonly used crystallographic orientations of β-GaO, namely the (-201) and (010).

Bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas are ubiquitous on Earth due to their great metabolic versatility and adaptation to fluctuating environments and different hosts. Some groups are important animal/human and plant pathogens, whereas others are studied for their biotechnological applications, including bioremediation, biological control of phytopathogens and plant growth promotion. Notably, their adaptability is mediated by various signal transduction systems, with the post-transcriptional Gac-Rsm cascade playing a key role.

Silicon carbide has been considered a material for use in the construction of advanced high-temperature nuclear reactors. However, one of the most important design issues for future reactors is the development of structural defects in SiC under a strong irradiation field at high temperatures. To understand how high temperatures affect radiation damage, SiC single crystals were irradiated at room temperature and after being heated to 800 °C with carbon and silicon ions of energies ranging between 0.
