The quantitative characterization of the structure of biomineral surfaces is needed for guiding regenerative strategies. Current techniques are compromised by a requirement for extensive sample preparation, limited length-scales, or the inability to repeatedly measure the same surface over time and monitor structural changes. We aim to address these deficiencies by developing Calcium (Ca) K-edge Polarisation Induced Contrast X-ray Fluorescence (PIC-XRF) to quantify hydroxyapatite (HAp) crystallite structural arrangements in high and low textured surfaces.

Luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) are large scale sunlight collector and can be used for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). Achieving high-performance LSCs requires fluorophores with broad absorption, high quantum yield and a large Stokes shift. Nevertheless, conventional high-efficiency LSCs typically rely on heavy metal-based quantum dots as fluorophores.

The adsorption reaction on clay minerals is crucial for understanding the environmental behavior of various cations, including cesium (Cs). However, its details remain unclear because of multiple adsorption sites of the clay minerals, a significant difference between concentrations in the atomic-scale experiments and the actual environment, and difficulties of evaluating bonding states of the adsorbed cations. It is expected that systematic experiments at the atomic-scale with a wide concentration range and application of density functional theory (DFT) calculations overcome the problems and bring crucial insights to link laboratory experiment results with environmental sample analysis.

Mowing significantly influences nutrient cycling and stimulates metabolic adjustments in plants to promote regrowth. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are crucial for enhancing plant growth, nutrient absorption, and stress resilience; however, whether inoculation with PGPR after mowing can enhance plant regrowth capacity further, as well as its specific regulatory mechanisms, remains unexplored. In this study, PGPR (B13) was inoculated into mowed to evaluate its effects on phenotypic traits, root nutrient contents, and hormone levels during the regrowth process and to further explore its role in the regrowth of after mowing.

The current study used sustainable and green approaches to convey polymer composites with desired optical properties. The extracted green tea dye (GTD) enriched with ligands was used to synthesize zinc metal complexes. Green chitosan biopolymer incorporated with green synthesized metal complex using casting technique was used to deliver polymer composites with improved optical properties.
