Background And Aims: Current evidence underscores that oxidative stress (OS) is a pivotal factor in the formation of vulnerable plaques in individuals with coronary heart disease (CHD). The Oxidative Balance Score (OBS), a comprehensive measure of systemic OS, consists of 15 antioxidants and 5 pro-oxidants, with higher scores indicating greater antioxidant activity. We hypothesized that a high OBS would be associated with improved coronary plaque stability in CHD patients.

Objective: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services tested the Part D Senior Savings Model ("PDSS Model") in 2021, capping monthly out-of-pocket (OOP) insulin costs at $35. Diabetes disproportionately affects racial/ethnic minorities compared to their non-Hispanic White (White) counterparts, so this study compared the changes in racial/ethnic disparities in healthcare costs among insulin users between Medicare and non-Medicare populations in 2021.
Methods: This study analyzed Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (2020-2021).

Enhancers are noncoding regulatory regions in the genome that play essential roles in modulating gene expression. Previous work showed that enhancers are not transcriptionally silent but are characterized by bidirectional expression of short capped noncoding RNAs. Balanced bidirectional expression has therefore been used as a key feature for the detection of enhancers from transcriptome data.

Nanoimprint lithography (NIL) is gradually becoming a powerful tool for the fabrication of periodic nanostructures. This method can offer a more cost-effective solution for large-scale manufacturing compared to methods that only rely on deep ultraviolet (DUV) immersion, since the product of DUV immersion can be utilized as a Si mold to fabricate a reusable plastic stamp mold. In this work, arrays of plastic nanopillars coated with nanostructured gold film exhibiting ultra density prepared through NIL and Au sputtering are successfully developed.

The submembrane cytoskeleton of neurons displays a highly ordered 190-nanometer periodic actin-spectrin lattice, the membrane-associated periodic skeleton (MPS). It is involved in mechanical resilience, signaling, and action potential transmission. Here, we identify paralemmin-1 (Palm1) as a component and regulator of the MPS.
