Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to external forces is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among people of all age groups, worldwide. Multiple biological processes like neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, amyloid β (Aβ) production, and tau hyperphosphorylation are involved in the pathogenesis of TBI. The role of neuroinflammation and oxidative stress has been suggested in the pathophysiology of brain injury-induced cognitive dysfunction.

There has been previous research linking AD to the missense variants ABI3-rs616338-T and PLCG2-rs72824905-G, and the altered expression of these genes has been shown to disrupt microglial function. In our understanding of AD risk and resilience, limited research has been conducted on how these variants affect microglial subtypes and states in AD.

Background: Apolipoprotein (Apo) E4, a main susceptibility gene for Alzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with increased vascular dysfunction, amyloid pathology, and neurodegeneration. The effector pathways leading to increased vascular risk in ApoE4 carriers needs to be established. Platelet aggregation is a key marker of vascular dysfunction and studies need to examine whether a relationship of ApoE4 allele status and platelet biology exists METHOD: We examined cross-sectional associations of platelet aggregation with ApoE genotypes (E2 or E4 against E3, the most common) in middle-aged cognitively normal participants at the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) Gen3, New Offspring Spouse (NOS), and Omni2 Cohorts.

Background: Subjective memory concerns (SMC) may be a sensitive marker of future cognitive declines. However, there are multiple factors that can impact the predictive utility of SMC. Prior studies have demonstrated the effect of depression on SMC.

An integrated magnetoimpedance (MI) biosensor microfluidic magnetic platform was proposed for the evaluation of the cardiac marker, cardiac troponin I (cTnI). This bioanalyte evaluation platform mainly comprised three external permanent magnets (PMs), one MI element, two peelable SiO film units and a microfluidic chip (MFC). The MI element was made of micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS)-based multilayered [Ti (6 nm)/FeNi (100 nm)]/Cu (400 nm)/[Ti (6 nm)/FeNi (100 nm)] thin films and designed as meander structures with closed magnetic flux.
