Four of 688 consecutive patients with right hemisphere ischemic stroke showed acute associated exploratory-motor and perceptual-sensory neglect without hemiparesis (AMSNWH). All cases had anterior cortical and posterior cortical infarctions in which motor strip and corticospinal pathways were spared. Acute AMSNWH is highly suggestive of embolic infarction in the anterior and posterior pial artery territories.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores how different types of feedback (reinforcement and error) influence movement exploration, revealing distinct roles for the basal ganglia (linked to reinforcement) and the cerebellum (linked to error correction).
  • Experiments conducted with both neurotypical individuals and those with Parkinson's disease show that reinforcement feedback encourages exploration, while error feedback suppresses it; together they can counteract each other.
  • Findings indicate that individuals with Parkinson's have reduced exploration abilities when receiving reinforcement feedback, which could inform strategies for neurorehabilitation.

-Acylethanolamine acid amidase (NAAA) is an N-terminal cysteine hydrolase that stops the physiologic actions of palmitoylethanolamide, an endogenous lipid messenger that activates the transcription factor, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor- We have previously reported that the compound ARN19702 [(2-ethylsulfonylphenyl)-[(2S)-4-(6-fluoro-1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)-2-methylpiperazin-1-yl]methanone] is an orally active, reversible NAAA inhibitor (IC on human NAAA = 230 nM) that produces remarkable protective effects against multiple sclerosis in mice. In the present study, we assessed the profile of ARN19702 in mouse and rat models of acute and neuropathic pain. Oral administration in male mice attenuated in a dose-dependent manner the spontaneous nocifensive response elicited by intraplantar formalin injection and the hypersensitivity caused by intraplantar carrageenan injection, paw incision, or sciatic nerve ligation.

Background: The timing and coordination of infant kicking may allow for activities that facilitate learning and cognitive development.

Objective: This study examined spontaneous kicking and associations with changes in kicking during a learning paradigm in typically developing infants.

Methods: Ten healthy full-term infants participated in two experiments at 3 months of age: spontaneous kicking and the mobile paradigm.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: In the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, the watery sap of Doliocarpus dentatus is used to alleviate thirst, and the leaves of this species are used to relieve pain and swelling associated with inflammatory processes.

Aim Of The Study: This study aimed to analyze the compounds of the leaves from the aqueous extract of D. dentatus (EADd) and evaluate its toxicogenetic and pain relief effects in animal models.
