In this study, we investigate how modulating organic spacers in perovskites influences their X-ray detection performance and reveal the mechanism of low-dose detection with high sensitivity using femtosecond-transient absorption spectroscopy (fs-TAS). Particularly, we employ N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,4-phenylenediammonium (TMPDA) and N,N-dimethylphenylene-p-diammonium (DPDA) as organic spacers to synthesize 2D perovskite single crystals (SCs). We find that DPDA-based SCs exhibit reduced interplanar spacing between inorganic layers, leading to increased lattice packing.

Interlayer excitons (IXs) in the heterostructure of monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are considered as a promising platform to study fundamental exciton physics and for potential applications of next generation optoelectronic devices. The IXs trapped in the moiré potential in a twisted monolayer TMD heterostructure such as MoSe/WSe form zero-dimensional (0D) moiré excitons. Introducing an atomically thin insulating layer between TMD monolayers in a twisted heterostructure would modulate the moiré potential landscape, thereby tuning 0D IXs into 2D IXs.

An ancient and counterintuitive phenomenon known as the Mpemba effect (water can cool faster when initially heated up) showcases the critical role of initial conditions in relaxation processes. How to realize and utilize this effect for speeding up relaxation is an important but challenging task in purely quantum system till now. Here, we experimentally study the strong Mpemba effect in a single trapped ion system in which an exponentially accelerated relaxation in time is observed by preparing an optimal quantum initial state with no excitation of the slowest decaying mode.

During the isolation, identification, and assessment of nematode-trapping fungi (NTF) against nematodes, we discovered an unusual fungus in decaying wood from Morelos State, Mexico. This isolate exhibited some characteristics similar to those of the genus; however, we found that it did not match any previously reported species within this genus after conducting morphological and phylogenetic analyses using the ITS, TEF, and RPB2 regions. This new species displays conidiophores with two or three stems emerging from the same initial site and conidiophores with only a single stem and aerial thickened hyphae from which single conidiophores emerge, forming 3D adhesive nets.

This study aims to achieve an ultralow lasing threshold in CsPbBr microplates (MPs), a crucial step toward developing electrically driven micro/nanolasers for optics integrated chips. We investigate the lasing behavior of CsPbBr MPs under varying pressures by using static-state photoluminescence (PL), time-resolved PL (TRPL), and first-principles theory calculations based on density functional theory (DFT). Our results reveal that the lasing threshold initially decreases and then increases, with a critical turning point at 0.
