The safety of power batteries in the automotive industry is of paramount importance and cannot be emphasized enough. As lithium-ion battery technology continues to evolve, the energy density of these batteries increases, thereby amplifying the potential risks linked to battery failures. This study explores pivotal safety challenges within the electric vehicle sector, with a particular focus on thermal runaway and gas emissions originating from lithium-ion batteries.

Whole-cell bioreactors equipped with external physico-chemical sensors have gained attention for real-time toxicity monitoring. However, deploying these systems in practice is challenging due to potential interference from unknown wastewater constituents with liquid-contacted sensors. In this study, a novel approach using a bioreactor integrated with a non-dispersive infrared CO₂ sensor for both toxicity detection and real-time monitoring of microbial growth phases was successfully demonstrated.

We investigate the electronic properties of nanoribbons made out of monolayer Lieb, transition, and kagome lattices using the tight-binding model with a generic Hamiltonian. It allows us to map the evolutionary stages of the interconvertibility process between Lieb and kagome nanoribbons by means of only one control parameter. Results for the energy spectra, the density of states, and spatial probability density distributions are discussed for nanoribbons with three types of edges: straight, bearded, and asymmetric.

Cylindrical vector beams (CVBs) hold considerable promise as high-capacity information carriers for multiplexing holography due to their mode orthogonality. In CVB holography, phase holograms are encoded onto the wave-front of CVBs with different mode orders while preserving their independence during reconstruction. However, a major challenge lies in the limited ability to manipulate the spatial phase and polarization distribution of CVBs independently.
