Zircaloy-4 (Zr-4) is widely used as the cladding material in nuclear power plants (NPPs) due to its excellent corrosion resistance and low neutron absorption cross-section. Under Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) conditions, oxidation of Zr-4 can compromise the safety of the NPPs by accelerating hydrogen production. Therefore, enhancing the oxidation resistance of Zr-4 is a critical research focus.

Background: The present research work was done to evaluate the anatomical differences among selected species of the family Bignoniaceae, as limited anatomical data is available for this family in Pakistan. Bignoniaceae is a remarkable family for its various medicinal properties and anatomical characterization is an important feature for the identification and classification of plants.
Methodology: In this study, several anatomical structures were examined, including stomata type and shape, leaf epidermis shape, epidermal cell size, and the presence or absence of trichomes and crystals (e.

To understand xylan-cellulose interactions in softwood, the adsorption behavior of hexameric softwood xylan proxies with various substitutions was analyzed on the three surfaces of a hexagonal cellulose microfibril. The study found that all surfaces could bind xylan motifs, showing equally high affinity for the hydrophilic (110) and hydrophobic (100) surfaces and significantly lower affinity for the hydrophilic (11̅0) surface. Unsubstituted xylose hexamers had the highest affinity and most ordered adsorption structures, while substitutions generally reduced the affinity and regularity.

The effect of gravity on the collective motion of living microswimmers, such as bacteria and micro-algae, is pivotal to unravel not only bio-convection patterns but also the settling of bacterial biofilms on solid surfaces. In this work, we investigate suspensions of microswimmers under the influence of a gravitational field and hydrodynamics, simulated the dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) coarse-grained model. We first study the collective sedimentation of passive colloids and microswimmers of the puller and pusher types upon increasing the imposed gravitational field and compare them with previous results.

Electric double layer capacitors (EDLC) require large specific surface area to provide high power density. The generation of pores increases the electrochemical capacitance with more graphitic edge planes exposed to the electrolyte. Conventional theory believes this increasing in capacitance is owed to the increased specific surface area, but our work uncovers another mechanism.
