Nanofriction plays an important role in the performance and lifetime of n-type or p-type TMD-based semiconductor nanodevices. However, the mechanism of nanofriction in n-type and p-type TMD semiconductors under an electric field is still blurry. In this paper, monolayers of n-MoSe and p-WSe materials were prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and their nanofriction behavior under positive electric field was investigated.

Sc-doped GeTe thin films prepared by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Graphic Arts and Photophysics, Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Pardubice, Studentská 573, Pardubice, 532 10, Czech Republic.

Radio frequency magnetron co-sputtering method employing GeTe and Sc targets was exploited for the deposition of Sc doped GeTe thin films. Different characterization techniques (scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, sheet resistance temperature-dependent measurements, variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry, and laser ablation time-of-flight mass spectrometry) were used to evaluate the properties of as-deposited (amorphous) and annealed (crystalline) Ge-Te-Sc thin films. Prepared amorphous thin films have GeTe, GeTeSc, GeTeSc, GeTeSc and GeTeSc chemical composition.

Fluorine-expedited nitridation of layered perovskite SrTiO for visible-light-driven photocatalytic overall water splitting.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Shanghai Key Lab of Chemical Assessment and Sustainability, School of Chemical Science and Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai, China.

Photocatalytic overall water splitting is a promising approach for a sustainable hydrogen provision using solar energy. For sufficient solar energy utilization, this reaction ought to be operated based on visible-light-active semiconductors, which is very challenging. In this work, an F-expedited nitridation strategy is applied to modify the wide-bandgap semiconductor SrTiO for visible-light-driven photocatalytic overall water splitting.

Self-Interacting Dark Sectors in Supernovae Can Behave as a Relativistic Fluid.

Phys Rev Lett

December 2024

Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia, Università degli Studi di Padova, Via Marzolo 8, 35131 Padova, Italy.

We revisit supernova (SN) bounds on a hidden sector consisting of millicharged particles χ and a massless dark photon. Unless the self-coupling is fine-tuned to be small, rather than exiting the SN core as a gas, the particles form a relativistic fluid and subsequent dark QED fireball, streaming out against the drag due to the interaction with matter. Novel bounds due to excessive energy deposition in the mantle of low-energy supernovae can be obtained.

Xanthohumol attenuates TXNIP-mediated renal tubular injury in vitro and in vivo diabetic models.

J Nat Med

January 2025

Department of Endocrinology, Cangzhou Central Hospital, No. 16 West Xinhua Road, Cangzhou, 061000, Hebei, China.

Thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP), as a pivotal protein in the cellular stress response, plays a significant role in the progression of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Consequently, therapeutic strategies aimed at targeting TXNIP may offer novel interventions for patients with DN. Our study is to explore the therapeutic potential of targeting TXNIP in mitigating renal tubular injury induced by hyperglycemia.
