Inhaled sedation uses halogenated drugs (isoflurane and sevoflurane) in a liquid state that, through a vaporizer, change to a gaseous state and reach the patient by the respiratory route. These drugs have a rapid onset of action, with minimal metabolism and elimination takes place almost exclusively through the airways. They do not cause significant tolerance, tachyphylaxis or significant abstinence.

The alterations in bladder function are associated with aging. Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) is a gaseous neurotransmitter that is synthesized in the urinary bladder and is suggested to regulate bladder smooth muscle tone. The effects of age and urothelium on the L-cysteine/H 2 S-induced relaxant responses were investigated in young (3-4 months) and aged (23-24 months) mice.

Rotational and vibrational energy relaxation (RER and VER) of N2O embedded in xenon and SF6 environments ranging from the gas phase to the liquid, including the supercritical regime, is studied at a molecular level. Synthetic, ecofriendly fuels and chemicals can be produced through Power-To-X (PtX) processes. To study such catalytic processes operando and spatially resolved, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a versatile tool. A main issue in the application of MRI in reactive studies is a lack of knowledge about how the gathered signals can be interpreted into reaction data like temperature or species concentration.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS), previously regarded as a toxic exhaust and atmospheric pollutant, has emerged as the third gaseous signaling molecule following nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO). Recent research has revealed significant biological effects of HS in a variety of systems, such as the nervous, cardiovascular, and digestive systems. Additionally, HS has been found to impact reproductive system function and may have therapeutic implications for reproductive disorders.
