Blepharospasm (BSP) is a common focal movement disorder linked to the basal ganglia and plasma catecholamines (CAs). This study aimed to analyze clinical characteristics of BSP patients and explore the relationship with plasma CAs. Clinical characteristics, clinician-rated scales, and plasma CAs were recorded, including dopamine (DA), 3-methoxytyramine (3-MT), and the 3-MT/DA ratio.

Cryo-electron tomography (cryoET) provides sub-nanometer protein structure within the dense cellular environment. Existing sample preparation methods are insufficient at accessing the plasma membrane and its associated proteins. Here, we present a correlative cryo-electron tomography pipeline optimally suited to image large ultra-thin areas of isolated basal and apical plasma membranes.

Introduction: Chronic low back pain (CLBP), or low back pain lasting greater than 12 weeks, is a prevalent condition that profoundly impacts the quality of life in affected individuals. Traditional treatments - such as physical therapy, medications, injections, minimally invasive procedures, and surgery - often prove ineffective in a considerable number of cases, particularly when utilized as singular modalities. Given the complex biopsychosocial nature of CLBP, a multi-modality approach tailored to each patients' unique needs is essential.

High-Performance Edge-Contact Monolayer Molybdenum Disulfide Transistors.

Research (Wash D C)

January 2025

School of Integrated Circuits and Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Integrated Circuits, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China.

Edge contact is essential for achieving the ultimate device pitch scaling of stacked nanosheet transistors with monolayer 2-dimensional (2D) channels. However, due to large edge-contact resistance between 2D channels and contact metal, there is currently a lack of high-performance edge-contact device technology for 2D material channels. Here, we report high-performance edge-contact monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS) field-effect transistors (FETs) utilizing well-controlled plasma etching techniques.

Introduction: Temporomandibular disorders have a multifactorial etiology including biological, biomechanical, neuromuscular, and biopsychosocial factors. Current research on temporomandibular disorders focuses on identifying clinically relevant biomarkers thus creating a new way of thinking about this dysfunction. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between salivary/blood concentrations of oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers and biopsychosocial findings in patients with temporomandibular disorder-myofascial pain with referral.
