OBJECTIVE: Evalution of low-intensity laser irradiation on the healing of bone affections and gangrene in patients suffering from diabetic microangiopathy. DESIGN: Case-report study. PATIENTS: Two consecutive diabetic male patients with gangrene, osteomyelitis, and bone fractures. INTERVENTION: Helium-neon laser irradiation (36 J/cm2 ) 50 min/day. MAIN OUTCOME PARAMETER: Healing of gangrene and corticalis lesion as well as remineralisation of bone affections. RESULTS: Within a mean period of 14 weeks not only a complete healing of the diabetic gangrenes but also a radiographically determined reestablishment of corticalis and remineralisation of preexisting bone affections could be achieved. CONCLUSION: We therefore conclude that low-intensity laser irradiation should be further tested as an additional beneficial therapeutic modality for the healing of gangrene and bone affections in diabetic patients.

Demographic aging and extended working lives have prompted interest in the physiological changes that occur with age, particularly in the lumbar spine. Age-related declines in muscle quality and intervertebral disc alterations may reduce muscular endurance, strength, and postural stability, potentially increasing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries in older workers. As experienced workers play an important role in addressing labor shortages, understanding the impact of age-related physiological changes on the biomechanical properties of the lumbar spine is key to ensure safe and sustainable employment for aging individuals.

Objectives: Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4) haploinsufficiency is a rare genetic condition characterized by development of immune cytopenia, hypogammaglobulinemia, and/or lymphoproliferative disorder, as well as multiple autoimmunity. Treatment with abatacept was shown to alleviate autoimmune conditions, yet its long-lasting impact on bone marrow function remains undetermined.
Methods: We here present the case of a now 39-year-old woman with CTLA-4 haploinsufficiency with predominant CNS affection, yet multiorgan autoimmunity and lymphopenia.

The decision to rehabilitate insufficient alveolar bone height with short implants is considered an effective treatment. Complicated surgical procedures such as ridge augmentation, vestibuloplasty, and sinus lifting are usually accompanied by high risks such as membrane injury, hemorrhage, nerve affection, and increased time needed for implant treatment with unpredictable healing time. Short dental implants allow for faster treatment and decrease the need for complicated surgeries that are usually associated with standard dental implants, as in all four and all six concepts.
