Novel Leu-enkephalin (Leu-Enk) (1) analogs possessing various types of alpha-substituted serine instead of its glycine residue in the position 2 were synthesized via an efficient O,N-migration method. The binding characteristics of the synthetic analogs using Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells expressed cloned rat mu-, delta-, and kappa-receptors revealed that [(1R,2S)-Ahh2]Enk (7) was the most potent agonist of delta-opioid receptors among all the synthetic analogs tested, and was 10 times more potent than the native Leu-Enk.

Designing single-template molecularly imprinted chiral sensors for the enantioselective recognition of various chiral amino acids (AAs) is of great importance for chiral analysis. Here, a dummy template-based chiral sensor is developed by using l-alanine (l-Ala) as the dummy template and poly(-phenylenediamine) as the imprinting layer, which can be used for the enantioselective recognition of various chiral AAs such as Ala, tryptophan (Trp), tyrosine (Tyr), cysteine (Cys), and arginine (Arg). Compared with conventional single-template molecularly imprinted chiral sensors, the designed single-template chiral sensor shows great universality for the recognition of chiral AAs since all chiral AAs possess an Ala-analogous segment.

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is a human gammaherpesvirus associated with Kaposi's sarcoma and B cell malignancies. Like all herpesviruses, KSHV contains conserved envelope glycoproteins (gps) involved in virus binding, entry, assembly, and release from infected cells, which are also targets of the immune response. Due to the lack of a reproducible animal model of KSHV infection, the precise functions of the KSHV gps during infection are not completely known.

Thirty-six novel pyrazole-heterocyclic-amide analogues were designed, synthesized, and characterized. The bioassay results showed that most target compounds exhibited good fungicidal activities against , , , , and at 20 μg/mL. Compounds , , , and possessed better fungicidal activities than the commercial fungicide prochloraz against .
