AI Article Synopsis

  • This study examines the healing effects of thermal water and mud on skin conditions.
  • The research involved patients with normal, dry, and oily skin who underwent a 14-day treatment with sulphur thermal muds.
  • Results showed that the treatment effectively normalized skin pH and oil levels, with lasting benefits for those who continued using the muds.

Article Abstract

Purpose: To investigate the curative effects of thermal water and thermal muds in various cutaneous pathologies.

Patients And Methods: Modifications of phmetry and sebometry using sulphur thermal muds in normal, dry and seborrheic skin have been studied. The three groups of patients have been submitted to a 14 day treatment with thermal muds.

Result: The application of thermal mud normalized the value of cutaneous pH and sebometry.

Conclusions: These beneficial effects are long-lasting in individuals who have a prolonged treatment with thermal muds.

This study examines the viability of using graphitic-Carbon Nitride (g-CN) nanomaterial as shale stabilizer drilling fluid additive having applications in the oil and gas wells drilling. Shale stability is important especially when drilling horizontal and extended reach wells with water-based muds (WBM) to tap unconventional reservoirs namely shale oil and shale gas. For this study, the g-CN nanomaterial was produced by melamine pyrolysis, and characterized by X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy techniques.

Peloids are made by mixing clay materials with thermo-mineral waters, enriched with organic substances from microorganisms during maturation. Their beneficial properties may depend on clay minerals, water characteristics, and microbial components, although strong evidence is lacking. Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) allows a comprehensive approach to studying the entire microbial community, including cultivable and uncultivable bacteria.

The thermal stability of organic carbon (OC) in marine sediments is one of the critical factors that influences its burial efficiency in marine environments. However, the distribution patterns and influencing factors of the thermal stability of OC in marginal seas remain poorly understood. In this study, we conducted the thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) of OC in surface sediments of the Changjiang Estuary (CE) and its adjacent East China Sea (ECS) shelf.

The Euganean Thermal District, situated in North-East Italy, is one of Europe's largest and oldest thermal centres. The topical application of its therapeutic thermal muds is recognised by the Italian Health System as a beneficial treatment for patients suffering from arthro-rheumatic diseases. Polysaccharides produced by the mud microbiota have been recently identified as anti-inflammatory bioactive molecules.

Balneotherapy includes practices and methods using medically and legally recognized mineral-medicinal waters, muds and natural gases from natural springs for therapeutic purposes. One of the most widely used method in balneotherapy is bathing with thermal mineral water. In the course of the years, scientific community has produced an increasing number of evidences that this practice is an effective method for treating signs and symptoms of several pathologies such as rheumatic, cardiovascular and dermatological diseases.
