The analysis of the prescriptions for bronchial asthma (BA) patients in outpatient practice was made using data base created at the Regional Fund of Obligatory Health Insurance in the Sverdlovsk region with consideration of GINA principles of BA stepped care. The real structure of prescriptions was compared with the pattern drug official list for asthma care. The cost of each BA care step was calculated on the base of the computer programs. The analysis showed low quality of BA care in outpatient practice. The created computer programs are very useful for the prescriptions structure monitoring, cost-effect analysis and pharmacotherapeutical management of the diseases.

Background: Medical comorbidity burden has a substantial impact on care for patients with dementia and has major impacts on quality of life. No nationwide study has evaluated trends in medical comorbidity burden of patients with a new diagnosis of dementia. We therefore performed a nationwide study of medical claims data to understand the prevalence of comorbid medical conditions at time of dementia diagnosis in real-world clinical practice.

Alzheimers Dement

Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

Background: Identification of cognitively unimpaired (CU) individuals who may progress to mild cognitive impairment (MCI), is a pressing issue in the Alzheimer's disease (AD) field, since therapeutic interventions may be more effective in the absence of cognitive impairment and neurodegeneration. CU individuals positive for amyloid and tau PET are very likely in the AD pathway. In out-patient cognitive screening, we use rapid and simple tests such as The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) - a composite of executive, visuospatial, naming, attention, language, abstraction, delayed recall, and orientation performances.

Background: The association of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and sarcopenia diagnoses is quite common, but frequently sarcopenia is underdiagnosed in this population and it may be contributing to the worsening of functionality in the person with AD.

Method: Fifty-five adults over age 60 from a public outpatient clinic in Londrina - Parana- Brazil diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease were followed during the years 2022 and 2023. They were subjected to a sociodemographic questionnaire, BMI assessment, cognitive assessment using the MMSE, functionality assessment using the Katz Index and to a sarcopenia screening test SARC-F +CC.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

Eisai, Hatfield, United Kingdom.

Background: With the emergence of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) for early Alzheimer's disease (AD), evolution of healthcare infrastructure is needed to identify patients eligible for treatment with an AD DMT, and to adequately treat and monitor patients throughout. Our research aimed to assess current practices and available infrastructure, to identify bottlenecks, and to propose solutions to increase patient access to AD DMTs in the EU4+UK.

Methods: We searched publicly available information (to August 2023) to derive a foundational understanding of the current level of healthcare infrastructure in each country.

Alzheimers Dement

NeuroVision Imaging, Inc, Sacramento, CA, USA.

Introduction: APOE (apolipoprotein E) genotyping determines an individual's risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and unique pathological characteristics vital to treatment consideration. The presence of the ε4 allele is considered a dose-dependent risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer's disease, with each additional copy of the allele adding to the risk. Genetic counseling and education are essential as disclosure can lead to psychosocial issues, employment issues, and family stress.
