Background: In continuation of our chemical and biological work on Tithonia tubaeformis, we evaluated the antipyretic activity of its extract which on fractionation gives a pure alkaloid galegine. Galegine a bioprivileged compound, is a hemiterpene bearing a guanidine group, which holds significant importance in medicinal chemistry. Biological activities such as antimicrobial, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, cardiovascular, anticancer, and antihypertensive, are often associated with guanidine-containing molecules.

Seeking effective improvement agent control measures to enhance the photosynthetic physiological traits and yield levels of spring maize is crucial for efficient green agriculture in arid regions. Therefore, this study was conducted to clarify the effects of coupling improvement agents under magnetoelectric activated water irrigation conditions on the photosynthetic physiological traits, grain nutrients, and yield of spring maize in the arid region of northwest China. Field experiments were set up with three concentrations of growth regulators: 400 times (G1), 500 times (G2), and 600 times (G3), and three amounts of : 15 kg/ha (R1), 45 kg/ha (R2), and 75 kg/ha (R3), along with a control group CK, making a total of 10 treatments applied in the field experiment.

Wound Healing Splinting Devices for Faster Access and Use.

JID Innov

March 2025

Department of Biomedical Engineering, Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA.

With the goal of studying skin wound healing and testing new drug treatments to enhance wound healing in rodent models, there is a clear need for improved splinting techniques to increase surgical efficiency and support routine wound monitoring. Splinted wound healing models humanize wound healing in rodents to prevent contraction and instead heal through granulation tissue deposition, increasing the relevance to human wound healing. Current technologies require suturing and heavy wrapping, leading to splint failure and cumbersome monitoring of the wound.

Implication of fibroblast growth factor 7 in ovarian cancer metastases and patient survival.

Front Oncol

January 2025

Gynecologic Oncology Section, Stephenson Cancer Center, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, OK, United States.

Background/objectives: Patients with ovarian cancer commonly experience metastases and recurrences, which contribute to high mortality. Our objective was to better understand ovarian cancer metastasis and identify candidate biomarkers and drug targets for predicting and preventing ovarian cancer recurrence.

Methods: Transcripts of 770 cancer-associated genes were compared in cells collected from ascitic fluid versus resected tumors of an ES-2 orthotopic ovarian cancer mouse model.
