[Association of an epsilon wave and syncope].

Presse Med

Published: November 1998

Background: Epsilon waves, rarely observed in clinical practice, result from late potentials favoring the development of ventricular rhythm disorders by reentry.

Case Report: A 53-year-old man with sequellar myocardial infarction experienced a syncope. The surface ECG recorded an epsilon wave. Programmed ventricular stimulation before and after anti-arrhythmia drugs triggered ventricular tachycardia which was hemodynamically poorly tolerated. A defibrillator was implanted and confirmed retrospectively the rhythmic origin of the syncope.

Discussion: The association of an epsilon wave and syncope should guide the etiology search towards severe ventricular rhythm disorders such as ventricular tachycardia. An electophysiologic study is required in order to determine the appropriate therapy and thus help avoid possibly fatal recurrence.

A substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) with extraordinary selectivity and an adequate upper stopband for C-band Satellite Communication (SATCOM) applications is proposed in this paper. The design comprises comb-shaped slots engraved on a half-mode SIW (HMSIW) that constitute a multimode resonator (MMR). Its performance is further ameliorated by applying the first and second iterations of the Minkowski fractal curve in the ground plane as a defected ground structure (DGS).

With the rapid advancement of multi-band detection technologies, military and civilian equipment face an increasing risk of being detected, posing significant challenges to traditional single-band camouflage designs. To address this issue, this study presents an innovative multilayer structure using Ge, Cu, and ZnSe materials to achieve triple-band infrared camouflage, visible camouflage, and radiative cooling. The structure exhibits low emissivity in the short-wave infrared (SWIR, 1.

Tailoring Wetting Ridge Dynamics on Hybrid Acrylic Polymers: The Impact of Mechanical Properties on Continuous Wetting.

Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, University of Minnesota, 2004 Folwell Avenue, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55108, United States.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explored how wetting speed, polymer mechanical properties, and deformation characteristics are related in graft copolymers made from acrylic monomers and macromonomers.
  • It found that the mechanical properties of the polymer films could be changed without significantly affecting their water contact angles by adjusting the macromonomer composition.
  • The research concluded that there is a direct correlation between the height of ridge structures formed during wetting and the wetting speed, which can help in designing materials with specific wetting properties relevant for various applications.
