Radionuclide tracing has demonstrated that intraperitoneal introduction of natural brine and mud solutions to intact rats followed by ultrasound versus galvanization provides more intensive delivery of chemical elements to the target organs and tissues. These differences should be taken into account when planning rehabilitation schemes with various physiotherapeutic modalities.

Effects of nanosilica on the properties of brine-base drilling fluid.

Sci Rep

November 2023

College of Harbour and Coastal Engineering, Jimei University, Xiamen, 361021, Fujian, China.

In the process of drilling oil and gas wells, the shrinkage and falling of wellbore walls are often caused by the expansion of mud shale water. To date, conventional additives have been unable to plug the pore throats of shale rock with nanoscale pores and thus cannot effectively solve the problem of wellbore instability encountered in shale formation drilling. In view of this situation, the idea of using nanosilica to plug the nanopore throat of mud shale is proposed to reduce its permeability and to slow water intrusion.

The Pathogenic Yeast var. in the Aquacultured Ecosystem and Its Biocontrol.

J Fungi (Basel)

October 2023

College of Marine Life Sciences, Ocean University of China, Yushan Road, No. 5, Qingdao 266003, China.

var. is a pathogenic yeast which can affect aquacultured and marine-cultured animals such as brine shrimp, ridgetail white prawn, chinook salmon, giant freshwater prawn, the Chinese mitten crab, marine crab, the mud crab, the mangrove land crab, the Chinese grass shrimp, sea urchins, sea urchins, and even snails, causing a milky disease, and it has caused big economic losses in aquacultural and marine-cultural industries in the past. However, the detailed mechanisms and the reasons for the milky disease in the diseased aquatic animals are still completely unknown.

Mud volcanoes transport deep fluidized sediment and their microbial communities and thus provide a window into the deep biosphere. However, mud volcanoes are commonly sampled at the surface and not probed at greater depths, with the consequence that their internal geochemistry and microbiology remain hidden from view. Urania Basin, a hypersaline seafloor basin in the Mediterranean, harbors a mud volcano that erupts fluidized mud into the brine.

In drilling deep complex formations, most drilling fluid additives have insufficient temperature and salt tolerance, resulting in the decline of drilling fluid performance. This study used 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, acrylamide, dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride and modified nano-laponite to synthesize a nanocomposite filtrate reducer (ANDP) with excellent temperature and salt resistance, which can maintain the performance of drilling fluid. The structure of ANDP was analysed by a transmission electron microscope and an infrared spectrometer.
