Objective: The purpose of the study was to investigate interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels in the tear fluid and sera of patients with Sjögren syndrome (SS).
Participants: Twelve patients with primary SS and 12 normal control subjects participated.
Intervention: Tear fluid and sera were obtained from the study and the control groups. Evaluation of tear fluid and sera IL-6 levels was done by using a quantitative enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. All assays were carried out blindly with respect to diagnosis.
Main Outcome Measures: Tear fluid IL-6 levels were measured.
Results: The mean concentration (+/- standard error) of IL-6 in the tears of patients with SS was elevated significantly compared to that of normal control subjects (88.6+/-16.2 vs. 42.1+/-10.6 pg/ml; P < 0.05). No significant differences were noted in the serum IL-6 levels between the two groups. A significant correlation (r = 0.742, P = 0.006) was found between tear fluid IL-6 levels and the focus score of lip biopsy specimens in patients with SS.
Conclusion: Tear fluid IL-6 levels may serve as an important marker for tear gland involvement in SS.

The objective of this study was to investigate the cardioprotective effects of Munziq on abnormal body fluid myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) and its underlying mechanism.Normal rats and rats with abnormal body fluid (ABF) were pre-treated with Munziq for 21 days. Following this, MIRI models were established.

Purpose: To investigate whether in diabetic cataract (DC), FoxO1 regulates high glucose (HG)-induced activation of NLRC4/IL-6 inflammatory mediators in human lens epithelial cells (SRA01/04) via the JAK1/STAT1 pathway, leading to cataract formation.
Methods: Expression levels of FoxO1, inflammatory factor IL-6 and inflammatory vesicle NLRC4 were examined in SRA01/04 under high glucose (HG) stress at 25-150 mM. Rat lenses were also cultured using HG medium with or without the addition of the FoxO1 inhibitor AS1842856 and the JAK1 agonist RO8191.

Introduction: Enterotoxic (ETEC) is the main pathogen that causes diarrhea, especially in young children. This disease can lead to substantial morbidity and mortality and is a major global health concern. Managing ETEC infections is challenging owing to the increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance.

Introduction: Ulcerative colitis (UC), a form of inflammatory irritable bowel disease, is characterized by a recurrent and persistent nonspecific inflammatory response. Polydatin (PD), a natural stilbenoid polyphenol with potent properties, exhibits unexpected beneficial effects beyond its well-documented anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. In this study, we presented evidence that PD confers protection against dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis.
